Jammu & Kashmir live updates: GOI remove all provisions of Article 370

Why is it Govt simply denying any protest happening? There will be protest. What is new about that? They should be allowed to protest. That is fundamental to any democracy. Govt should be controlling it not concealing.

There's no actual protest happening.

But while a democracy allows protests, it is only peaceful protests. Any real protest in Kashmir will not be even remotely peaceful.

May be to cheer some jihadist, some knuckle head from Land of pure fabricated it.. Babaji told few days back that he has went to see 72 virgins..
Possible. Though I'd like to think he is still alive, that marginally increases our chances to screw them in FATF. Marginal, I know but I'll take it.

Ramachandra Guha (@Ram_Guha) Tweeted:
"Kashmiris said that of all the crackdowns they had lived through, this was the worst".
"A population that felt besieged, confused, frightened and furious".
This NYT report tells the truth about India to Indians; much as the BBC did during the Emergency:
Kashmir report: ‘Living hell here’ ( )

For some reason TamBrahm from Bangalore is having a meltdown on behalf of the Kashmiris.

it is over now , .

Our government function under the auspices of our constitution which guarantees every citizen the right to question it on any and every matter. While democracy guarantees equal rights, unfortunately it doesn't guarantee fair distribution of intellect and wisdom. Accept my condolences.

You are correct. But, It is for a good reason. Kashmir is a problematic territory. So, we can give them the benefit of doubt now.

Indian middle class is unaware of civil liberties. They romanticise dictatorship. They are aspirational. They demand change even at the odds basics of democracy. Maybe this is the best we can hope for !.

What you say is correct, although I would not generalize and club the entire middle class as uneducated on matters of democracy. Intellectual deficit is quite pronuned among millenials. It's a generation that lacks civic awareness, intellectually malnourished because they have probably never read a book other than what is required to pass the engineering college, unable to hold a intelligent conversation for more than 15 minutes without suffering a neurotic fit..... Again I might be grossly generalizing them, but they seem to have an attention span which is the length of the longest Facebook post and have an intellectual base which is a compendium of stuff aggradized from various WhatsApp groups.

Such a stroke with a broad brush? What does that illuminate about you Sir? Let this be known, we the millenial engineers also do read, apart from that we passed our exams that for some of us gave the ability to view and understand system of sytems and their interaction.. Also "our" faculty of reading and comprehension is no less than the mean ability of any other human. This entitled sense of intellectual superiority hollows your claims to the same sir, and it should have been avoided.
