What do you think of De Valera's riposte to Churchill?
What do you think of De Valera hosting Subhash Chandra Bose, considering Bose was hosted by Hitler, Tojo, etc?

Do let us know your views, Paddy.

England will retailiate by becoming an intellectual powerhouse. It's ok BMD we will buy these heathens hand kerchief and kleenex.

shashi tharoor was in the running for UN head.
No chance. He'll get vetoed. The head of the UN needs to be impartial, something that Shashi Thrapper-Crapper can't possibly claim to be.

United Nations Secretary-General selection - Wikipedia

The next round of straw polling reveals the existence of any vetoes. The permanent members vote on red paper, and the rotating members vote on white paper.[6] If any permanent members vote "discourage," this is treated as a likely veto. Straw polling continues until a candidate has no vetoes and more "encourage" votes than the other candidates. The Security Council then votes to recommend the candidate to the General Assembly. Since 1996, the vote has been taken by acclamation so that the Secretary-General is recommended unanimously.[7]

What do you think of the burning aircraft wreckage that hosted Subhash Chandra Bose?

Jeez. It's not often we're dumber than Pakistan.

Not sure if Pak agrees with that. Anyway most intelligent countries like the US were inclined to support. Surely Britain was out of sync with it's character in supporting with the whole world.

You seem triggered, Paddy. The boot's on the other foot, eh? :geek::geek:

Relax.

On topic, I don't think of the burning aircraft at all. People die or in this case was martyred. It's how they've lived their life that matters. His life and death were both - glorious. A sterling patriot like De Valera & Collins.

Btw - no need to thank me on shedding light on Ireland's glorious struggle for freedom , their close ties with Indian nationalists and De Valera's views on Churchmouse. Views, which are definitely absent from the curiculla of public school education in the UK. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::LOL::LOL:

BMD is a systems engineer not a farmer.

A martyr is a person who dies for their cause. Now even if we accept the methods by which he went about his cause, which I don't, he was unwilling to die for his cause, he instead fled from his INA forces and his Imperial Japanese cohorts and tried to seek refuge in Russia.

In short, he was not a martyr, because he didn't die for his cause, he died because the plane he used to runaway was not airworthy. Who knows, maybe the British let slip to the Chinese that some idiot who sided with their invaders was flying over their country. After all, the art of good business is being a good middleman.

Indian GDP was lower than China's in 1751 and Indian GDP was higher than China's in 1947 despite having half the population, now it has the same population but less than half the GDP. So who was most incompetent, the British or the government of independent India? The real irony is that the pillaging British actually ran the Indian economy better.

Power of compounding means we will match China's GDP in 15 years. Britain never had GDP levels as propsperous as china's

Measures of GDP should be considered a very partial view of a country's real economy, since it only counts monetary transactions.
Measures of GDP prior to the 20th century should be considered speculative at best.
Measures of GDP from Communist China should be considered falsified by the propaganda services of the Party.

It must have done by virtue of the fact that it ruled over India during the period that it had a higher GDP. And a55-pounding will not help you catch up with China.

Very true, GDP does not take into account NIIP, where India is $-371bn and China is $+1,747bn. Aside from that, are we really going to include goods and services paid for with livestock?

To a point.

I don't think their GDP is falsified, but their debts are anyone's guess.

Your entire country isn't worth $40 trillion and last I looked, you still had it.
