FY 27 means the Financial year ending On 31 March 2027

Any industrial/manufacturing org largely speaks in terms of financial quarters not calendar years.
Tip : IF ANY org says q1 2027 or q1 20XX it means FY, always. Calendar year is almost always talked about in months. ofc there will be exceptions but its very rare.

We are in Q4 FY-26. First quater of FY-27 means April 1 2026 to June 30 2026. The timelines aren't that dramatically different..
They have a whole year. I wouldn't have high hope. But I wouldn't be totally hopeless about it either. This is very likely to fly this FY.

IMO, LCA MK2 is an ADA project aimed to deliver the first product. HAL can provide the details that are currently in production. Only ADA can share the first flight information for LCA MK2 and AMCA. The tenders for LCA MK2 are issued by ADA, not HAL.

The HAL chief did say the aircraft is in PROTOTYPING STAGE.
Q1 of FY 2027 is 13-14 months away.
I don't see how he could've meant Q1 of FY26 which is only 2 months away.
However, July-26 is still a plausible timeframe if the prototype has been completed.

We are in Q4 FY 2026. So you are wrong. 2027 in FY 2027 is the ending year not the beginning. What you are talking about is CY. First quater of FY-27 means April 1 2026 to June 30 2026. That's just 2 month away.
