When you only have 4th + gen, you 'want to believe' they are competitive with 5th gen
When you have 5th gen, you 'know' the 4th + gen are just targets, All the bravado in the world won't change this

India needs to get their 5th gen in the air now

Okay, can you please explain to us what defines a 5th gen fighter and what makes it better than a 4th one ? For the records.
"5 better than 4" not acceptable answer.
"Because it has stealth" is not acceptable either, except if you tell us why.

I have ask this question on 40 J35 v 100 plus Rafale F4.1 what would the outcome be
Chat gbt was the engine
The result was chinease fifth generation will not have the overwhelming edge of USA F35 which is generational leap over the Rafales
Rafale v chinease Fifth generation can be tackled by Rafale

Handling J 35 is Easier than Handling Pakistanis on that Forum P-D-F

I wonder how you handful of Indians tolerate those PIGS over there 🤣

I mean how?

VLO design with internal bay, and RAM against delta canards mounting every kind of weapon and fuel tanks externally.

Stealth is the main advantage, and overlooking is similar to having two guys fight but state that one should ignore the other having a rifle.

Open source RCS estimates lose their validity when external payloads are integrated onto the fuselage and wing hardpoints.

Not to mention Chinese are iterating really fast on engines, and are already good in electronics and sensors.

Lastly, 100 Rafales are unlikely to finish delivery before late 2030s

The f-35 is in a league of it's own. There is nothing really like it. The j-35 is a mig35 with a stealth bodykit. It's not really a good comparison.
The j-35 will have superior a2a but it lacks in A2G and closer to a mig 29 in operational role. The f-35 is more in the category of the f-16 blk 60-rafale but has far more situational awareness. The biggest problem when it comes to the Pakistanis is the Erieyes and that won't change.
The biggest threat from the Chinese will be the pl-17.
Let's not write off the J-35 just yet. Its pedigree comes from the J-20 (same mfgr) which reportedly flew undetected over Taiwan last year.

This incident reminds me of the IAF flying Foxbats over Pak airbases for photo recon back in the day. Except those jets were high speed.

The j-20 are made by Chengdu the j-35 is made by shenyang AC. The j-20 has superior range, speed and altitude.

Atleast in terms of external fit and finish (gaps, angles, alignment) J-35A seems to be on par with J-20. The rest is relative because J-35 is an AMCA-class 25t jet.

I do think they have shared technology and manufacturing processes. The difference really would be in their softwares. To be fair shenyang is the one that is actually producing their j-16's and j-11's. Chengdu was the one that produced the j-10.
So they have both experience in AC manufacturing. Chinese sensor fusion and tech is up for discussion.

J-35 is more stealthy than J-20. With PL-15s in its IWB, it's the highest aerial threat IAF would face from Pak side. We need to be careful and not just mock our adversaries.

Yes, it's a given that both progs feed into each other. The J-20 is already in its 2nd gen while a third-gen variant J-20C is reportedly in the works.

As a naval fighter, I'd imagine J-35A to be less stealthy vs J-20 because of corrosion, carrier ops wear and tear, etc. But the PLAAF version likely had a lower rcs.

I ain't mocking the Chinese. I'm doing a realistic comparison. The f-35 and j-35 won't really be an equal fight especially when armed with a meteor and aewc backing.
