Indian Army Artillery Systems : News and Updates

From the RFI

1.Field Regiments are to be equipped with 105 mm/ 37 Calibre Mounted Gun Systems
to provide shoot & scoot capability for operations in mountains. The proposed 105 mm/37 Calibre Mounted Gun System will be employed in mountains and High Altitude Areas along the Northern Borders of the country for execution of Artillery tasks.

2. The vehicle of the Gun System should have the capability to operate on existing roads and tracks, existing and created, in mountains and High Altitude Areas along Northern Borders.

3. The Gun System should have Inertial Navigation System based sight system with capability to provide orientation and fixation to the Gun System. FCS should also have capability to provide day and night direct and
indirect firing. FCS should be compatible to Project SHAKTI.

Apart from this it asks if it can be carried by C130 and is the system 4x4.
Numbers unknown, but safe to say minimum 5-6 regiments. So like 90-100 guns minimum.

IA is terribly obsessed with ugly looking platforms.
Wouldn't pass imo. The Garuda is extremely light in comparison to any of the existing 105mm Truck Mounted Systems.

The closest one is Serbian one, but further development which was supposed to happen , hasn't shown any news. Their M56 on 4x4 is on heavier side.

Are we going to order 105/37 along with Kalyani 155/39 mgs or only 205/37?

So seems like both Tata and Kalyani got the confirmatory trials done.
What about winter & high altitude trials?
These were confirmatory trials.

Another set of trials should happen once first 6 guns of production lot comes to Army. Those will be exhaustive if same procedures like Dhanush 45 is followed.
