Chinese Wuhan Virus Thread

Pakistan has added 200+ cases in 1 day, they have crossed 700 in total.
Bangladesh has controlled their cases very well, with only 24.
Bhutan has 2 active cases.
Sri Lanka has more than 75 cases, which may become problematic.
Nepal has zero cases, they are virus free.

For India, BD and Nepal are the biggest threats. If the virus goes haywire in these two countries, it will most definitely spill into India.
 
ICMR is ramping up testing by including all hospitalised patients with similar symptoms as the disease, and also the close contacts of confirmed cases, even if they are asymptomatic. That's certainly good news, but should have been done a week ago.

Now Private labs are going to start testing soon in 2 days

Anyone with Pneumonia will be tested
 
Okay, that China losing 8 million subscribers thingie, it's just people using number portability to switch to 5G.
 
Considering hundreds of people that were supposed to be quarantined have escaped, especially in Punjab, it's possible that India is experiencing community transmission in some areas. It's speculation, but it's possible.

It's not that simple. Go thru the thread. There are posts there which depict the number of subscribers to both 4G & 5G.The fall in subscribers is in spite of it. It doesn't account for all the migrations.

It's gonna be very surprising if 8 million are dead because the numbers don't match up with the number of dead in Europe. It's likely just incorrect numbers floating around for 5G right now, so the comparisons will be meaningless.
 
A lot of the connections are of companies subscribed for their employees. When they dont show up for work during the quarantine the company cuts their lines. A death person wont cancel his own subscription. His kin has bigger things to worry that cancel phone subscription.

PM is busy with image building as a global leader, SAARC Video confrence, G20 Video conference preparations, then you have to address nation too and instead of locking whole country down 2 weeks ago Junta Curfew bhi khelna hai.

How can you be so non serious about the death sniffing down upon millions of us. Our hospitals will be overrun and our dead will find hard to arrange 4 people for last journey.

Mind you these figures are from end February. Apparently, China's now claiming no new infections. So, these cases of infection would have been on the slide since the beginning of March. Secondly, there figures reported are documents filed with the HK stock exchange whis is thus mandated as part of the obligations for all listed companies there.

It's not my case that all the 15 million , for that's the number of subscribers who've fallen in the lists generated, are casualties. A good number may have migrated from 4G to 5G . There may also be huge numbers who may have got out of Wuhan in the initial stages and switched off their phones to prevent tracing of them by authorities. But even if we were to consider a third of them as casualties / infected & thus unable to access phones, the numbers are too huge . Of course all this is guesstimates.

Dying of Starvation or Dying of Corona

Who will feed these millions of people struggling because of lockdowns

There is no shortage of food grains in India, we can easily feed whole population for one full year and then some. This is without any import or counting previous stock. You won't have pizza but you can easily ride this storm out.

If you locked it down on time you may barely need 2-3 months, now we will pay many times. You have very good foreign reserve, development spending will be very low, you can keep population alive for more than year in compete lockdown.

Will all that money collected from us be used only to save friends bank accounts or will it be used in times of epidemic?

Community transmission though underway, it's in the initial stages. Also, feeding migrant workers won't be easy, and even the act of food distribution itself would create crowds, leading to further propagation. That's why the government, wants them all to leave to their villages, in the early stages of community transmission, although Modi says otherwise on twitter. Once, railways resumed on monday, even the remaining floating population will flee to their towns and villages. And then, Modi will execute a long term lockdown. Also, feeding them in their home villages, will be easier. And anyway, movement even within rural environments is on the ebb.. and in some karnataka villages, villagers who return from metros are being monitored by anganwadi workers, and the rest of the village too stays away from them due to fear.. one good thing about WhatsApp is that it has successfully spread fear of corona virus to every nook and corner of the country...

Even if the numbers are 1/100th of 8 million, that's far too big.
