How on earth can the US - the bastion of capitalism elect anarchists masquerading as socialists is beyond me?!? It seems as if all those crazy movie scenarios conjured up in movies like The Dark Knight Rises & Joker about the mob taking over & dispensing mob justice has come true. The woman isn't just an anarchist, she's stark raving mad!!

A councilwoman doesnt really have a lot of power, but she is a symbol of a new trend in US politics.

There is extreme wealth inequality and wage stress on the broader US public. It's not just a feeling, there are lot of studies that show this is happening. The poor are getting poorer, the rich are getting richer and the middle class is being squeezed out of existence by increasing prices on everything and stagnant wages. It really does feel like some grand plutocratic conspiracy.

To add fuel to the fire, the US political system has seldom been this polarized. Democrats and Republicans will just not work together on anything (other than corporate welfare ofc). As people get desperate they turn to more radical solutions, on both ends. Because these increasingly radical people are more likely to vote in primaries and general elections, the politicians are beginning to relfect these radical ideologies. I think a lot of the more radical voters on both sides have begun to understand that the entrenched politicians are only paying their demands lip service and continuing with business as usual, so you get clowns like Ksharma Sawant, AOC, Trump, etc.

It's funny now because they are still a vocal minority, but if things continue along this path it will get scary very fast.

She is targeting young voters who have taken to socialism in the US.

Of course, once these young voters enter the mainstream after college, they change their minds, but those 2, 3 or 4 years of stupidity gets people like this Kshama elected. There are also the dregs of society who fail to enter the mainstream that will agree with socialism, and there's plenty of that in the US.

Things seem poised not just to continue along this path but plunge the US into some kind of neo civil war. If the pre Chinese virus economic situation wasn't bright enough, what's happening in it's aftermath has all but evaporated any chance of some sort of a compromise being reached. Arguably the polity has been polarised for quite some time. Perhaps since Reagan & his reagonomics. Successive Presidents from both parties have only managed to paper over that divide. In fact , if anything they've widened that cleavage. In Trump's tenure it's become a gulf.

Coming back to Mumbai Girl Kshama Sawant, Apparently this loon with her band of loony anarchists marched all the way to the Mayor's residence & vandalised it from the outside spraying graffiti on her residence walls - we know where you live. Fun fact - the mayor began as some kind of sympathiser for KS & her policies too.

Well, if only you didn't warm successive chairs with your backside posting your views on different defence forums in the past 6 years & instead constructively utilised your time into projects of self advancement & progression like planning to move to the US, not only would you've achieved it by now but also you wouldn't have rued seeing such a day.

Now the collective goose you & your generation of aspirants planning to move to the US is cooked. Not only has Trump made immigration more difficult but loons on the other side like this female have ensured that there will be no easy repeal of such laws. In other words, you've had it even if you haven't quite asked for it.

Ksharma Sawant is a loon. There is no reason to go to the mayor's house. The only purpose is intimidation, which will only sour the minds of the greater electorate against you. Hopefully her term is shortlived, the mayor is probably filing some type of disciplinary action against her. Unsurprisingly, it seems she promoted the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) that lingered for most of the past month.

I'm still hopeful that major domestic conflict can be avoided and that dialogue and cooperation can still resolve issues at hand. For all their faults, the vast majority of people here are still full of kindness. Just this morning I had to get some paperwork filed at the BMV, there are always long lines there and with social distancing the lines wrapping around the building with people enforcing the 6ft spacing. There were random people in the community going around the line giving out cold bottles of water, doughnuts and crackers. Not government employees, just local citizens who wanted to do a nice thing.

But, perhaps I am biased because I was raised here. They say you can't see an empire decaying from the inside after all.

Irrespective of how it seems on the surface she just completely finished off her political career.

On other hand, India is a country of big talks and no action.

I gather this isn't going to pass the Senate but then there are elections due to the House of Representatives & possibly the Senate towards the end of the year apart from the Presidential elections. Any idea about the future of this bill.
@Ginvincible

I haven't even heard of it. No chance it gets passed by the Senate. The Supreme Court even upheld Trump's ban so its really just a nothingburger. Democrats know this won't pass the Senate and are just going through the motions so Democratic incumbents in constituencies that really cared about the ban can at least say they tried. Even if by some miracle it does get passed by the Senate, I think it would eventually get challenged and struck down by the Supreme Court, since travel bans have a lot of historic precedent in terms of national security. If not Trump, then some future President wouldn't let it stand.

Extreme misinterpretation of 'freedom of speech'. They should have allowed Joe Mccarthy have his way. He would have built institutions that would have beaten this out of the system.

what rubbish nonsense, how different are they from rest of the ppl? These ppl wear their religion on their sleeves and then claim discrimination. Only reason it is not passing now is bcos senate is republican majority. This type of gradual whittling of constitution in favor of a community or group will simply erase the neutral character of constitution.

Does VP have any significant power or just a ceremonial second in line ?

She will be very useful for creating an alliance against China and blocking Anti India resolutions on Kashmir

Our Friends on the other side are now voting for Trump.
