When a Korean American begins with insulting Indians & brings in the Jews in the end , it means we've arrived.
99% of ppl irl don't give a shit whether a person is Indian or not, even if they don't like us the vast majority make comments in their heads and show a different face. Like this korean guy no way he can say this stuff infront of Indians. He can only whine infront of a lifeless camera. When a Korean American begins with insulting Indians & brings in the Jews in the end , it means we've arrived.
Given there's a lot of love for India online at the moment , especially on X after Musk took over & became a free speech absolutist , this video by an Indian American couldn't be more timely.
What are your views about the whole affair? @Ginvincible ; @Milspec ; @Saaho & other NRI / PIO / OCI guys out here especially the younger lot who come from such a background , who've joined around 2 years ago & about whom I don't know much .

Chinese were still mocked and are mocked even now by many Americans...Americans even mock European countries tho vast majority of them came from Europe...India is seen as a third world shithole (which imo it is tbh wtr to urban infrastructure). Even then the era of tolerance of being openly racist by government establishment and majority of people towards one ethnicity in a liberal democracy is gone. There are a few isolated incidents but in real life, it's highly unlikely there will be a targeted campaign against Indians like what Idi Amin did or what America did against Japanese Americans in WW2.@_Anonymous_ It's really not that deep.
Growing up here is different. Americans in real life have been, and largely still are, incredibly chill. Most people just live their lives.
That Korean guy is just an uncle tom looking for validation. Most people with tiger moms grew up successful and don't need to sell themselves online to make a buck.
I get a lot of the first few minutes of that youtube video. Back when I was young a lot of people thought Indians were some quirky minority of pacifist smart people who did yoga, followed some ancient culture and didn't eat meat. Dhalsim from Street Fighter, Apu from the Simpsons, random hippie documentaries on India, and Gandhi were the only exposure most Westerners had on India. Obviously that was never going to hold up as more and more exposure to mainstream Indian society happened.
It's not some weird obsession or jealousy that makes Indians an easy target online - it's just that Indians speak English and have access to the wider internet. If China didn't have the "Great Firewall" and Chinese widely spoke English, you'd see the same occur with them.
The last thing would be the prevalence of Indians in the West. Growing up, seeing another Indian family was rare. Now Indians are everywhere. This shock of seeing a super rare minority everywhere now has definitely ruffled feathers. For what it's worth even my parents, who emigrated in the 80s, feel like they can't relate all that well with modern India. Eventutally everyone will come to terms and get over it.
@automoderator I should be about to call a ho a ho instead of needing to edit sell themselves just btw
I think there is a distinction. I base this on my own experiences over the years.Chinese were still mocked and are mocked even now by many Americans...Americans even mock European countries tho vast majority of them came from Europe...India is seen as a third world shithole (which imo it is tbh wtr to urban infrastructure). I see . And you belong to one of the categories I've mentioned , is it ? If yes where are you based & how long have you been there if I may ask ?99% of ppl irl don't give a shit whether a person is Indian or not, even if they don't like us the vast majority make comments in their heads and show a different face. Like this korean guy no way he can say this stuff infront of Indians. He can only whine infront of a lifeless camera.
There is no korean american with the crowd that he is pandering to. He is korean plain and simple for them and the skin tone as per them is definitely not white as many of such folks would "kindly" explain to this chap. When a Korean American begins with insulting Indians & brings in the Jews in the end , it means we've arrived.
Western country, around 17 or so years. Faced 1 racist incident that too from some non white person who was also an immigrant lol. Not saying racism isn't a problem but overt racism involving physical/verbal assault is very rare (touchewood), ppl will think something of you but put out on a different face if they even are racist.I see . And you belong to one of the categories I've mentioned , is it ? If yes where are you based & how long have you been there if I may ask ?
If ppl want to be racist they go online and spew stuff behind a mask. In real life they wouldn't have the courage, only very few people openly and overtly assault people verbally or physically because of their race. Most mind their own buisness.I think there is a distinction. I base this on my own experiences over the years.
For disclosure, I know that mainland Chinese had it rough, and are still scorned online and in person by mainstream media. A lot of that scorn is double sided because it justifies them and places some intrinsic respect on China as a civilization rival. I had Chinese origin friends growing up, and I almost married a Chinese origin girl (sometimes I wish I did). However, at the end of the day, opinions on Chinese were mainly formed by big media.
I don't want to chest thump but I travel around America a lot. Like over 100 flights a year on average due to the nature of my work. Admittedly it is mainly the Great Lakes/Midwest, Pacific NW, and Gulf Coast regions I frequent, but I feel like I spend a lot of time with a diverse range of Americans.
I eat dinners at random small town restaurants and bars on the regular. I even go to lots of minor league games, mainly because they are cheap and fun. I promise you that real life hate against Indians is rare. At least to my face. Most people just want to talk about the next college football draft or perhaps how poorly their favorite baseball/basketball team has done. Or the next season of The Bear which is surprisingly popular (my wife is a big fan which helps me keep connected).
Thanks for your response. I was working on a theory that people there won't be as racist if you sound native as in you sound like the natives of THAT particular place. Hence my question in the previous post.Western country, around 17 or so years. Faced 1 racist incident that too from some non white person who was also an immigrant lol. Not saying racism isn't a problem but overt racism involving physical/verbal assault is very rare (touchewood), ppl will think something of you but put out on a different face if they even are racist.
Won't go into the reasons we're targeted as that part has been touched upon in the video and you guys based on your personal experiences.@_Anonymous_ It's really not that deep.

Days are not far when Trump might get small countries to start a war, for only to stop them and claim Ceasefire.![]()
Cambodia the latest country set to nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize
Cambodia is the third country to throw its support behind the US president for the world's top peace prize.www.abc.net.au
Cambodia's deputy prime minister says the country will nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize after he helped secure a ceasefire with Thailand after days of deadly skirmishes. At least 43 people have been killed in the intense clashes, which lasted five days and displaced more than 300,000 people on both sides of the border in the worst violence between the neighbouring countries in more than a decade.
