Turkey - Pakistan - Saudi Arabia joint defense pact

KSA is too weak once the west technicians are away.
Turkey is too far from India.

In fact I see more Iran to be frightened by these 3 country.

Turkey-Pakistan-BD form a direct threat for India (assuming BD accepts KSA invite) even if KSA sits it out. And in the past, the internal conflicts within India was funded by KSA through Pak.

Let's see what happens the next time there's a skirmish on the lines of Operation Sindoor. I'd like to see how many of these treaty allies join Paxtan ?!

It's going the way previous treaties like CENTO & SEATO went. Apart from individual countries providing some material & monetary assistance to Paxtan nothing much happened.

However there exists a real danger of KSA bankrolling Turkey's massive MIC under construction which'd give Paxtan access & pose an alternative to China & the US . That ought to be worrying.
there is even talk of Iran joining, it's to counter Israel

Iran is, as long as drived by Mollah, an outcast.
Israel is a threat for Iran (mainly because Iran is a threat for israel). Between Israel and Turkey there is only Syria problem. But between Israel and Pakistan ???

It's early days, give it a few years, Long term it makes sense to have Iran sitting at the table
There are several other countries that are looking at joining

  • Bangladesh: Bangladeshi officials confirmed they received an invitation to join the pact and stated that the government views the prospect positively while considering national interests. [1, 2]
  • Egypt: Cairo has stated it is studying the prospect of joining, with analysts noting its large military and strategic position make it a leading candidate for expansion. [1, 2]
  • Iran: Reports have circulated regarding a potential invitation to Tehran. While an Iranian parliamentary media official indicated an invitation was received, the Iranian Foreign Ministry later stated no official invitation had been formally delivered. [1]
  • Syria: Syrian foreign policy officials indicated that the country is considering joining the agreement, though no final decision has been made. [1]
  • Other Gulf States: Wealthy regional nations such as Qatar and Kuwait are frequently discussed by regional analysts as logical future additions due to their financial and strategic depth

Tough for Iran to join Mecca pact as it is directed against Iran only and Russian influence within Iran.

For India it will be a diplomatic challenge in case of escalation with Pakistan. All these countries will supply Pakistan capital, intelligence and defence equipment and same time will try to tie India's hand like every time to call for cease fire via diplomatic channels. During operation no one should be talking to these countries if they call for cease fire.

Last time every one wanted India to punish Pakistan once for all. Except for one almost every on stayed silent. India gave message that this nuclear blackmail and threats won't work to call for cease fire. PM Modi had told clearly that if Pakistan hits India will hit back three times the force.

India must publish an updated mil doctrine/defence white paper spelling out clearly that third parties/treaty allies will be targeted with extreme prejudice if they give Pak direct support.

Heck the target set must also include commercial tankers, supply ships and tanker/aew as well. No room for ambiguity here.

That should make the Saudis more circumspect after what Iran's did to them just recently.

There is no one officially said it's to counter, Supported by Russia and China, It's actually to counter Israel and their greater Israel zionist dream

India is concerned, because Pak/China is involved, who are supporting Iran, as well as Mecca group, I don't see the group threatening India

This is a double edge sword can be used by anywhere by it's 'masters'. Turkey being the NATO member and Saudi Arab being fully under US influence says it all, the only odd parameter here is China. Without proper defence equipment this pact is blunt. Some one has to provide them with all the support. Who is actually behind the pact will be clear within one year time.

A first test for Mecca Pact

Due to the increasingly aggressive military stance of both Israel and Iran, the Mecca Pact might get put to the test a bit early in the day.

On Aug. 18, Israel struck the Abu al-Duhur airbase in northwestern Syria, saying that it was to prevent a possible Turkish military deployment there.

For a while, Washington has been working on a de-confliction mechanism involving Israel, Türkiye and Syria. But now, this tug of war between Türkiye and Israel over Syria could become a wider issue, as Ankara just signed a mutual defense pact with Riyadh and Islamabad.

Under a similar bilateral mutual defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan recently deployed around 8,000 additional troops, air defense systems, and fighter jets to its regular military presence on the ground.

And now, with the ongoing escalations between Ankara and Tel Aviv, the question arises whether Islamabad would have to play the same role as in Saudi Arabia if Israel and Türkiye have an armed face-off?

So let's get this right pops - Is everything between Iran & KSA forgiven ? Is the alliance with Iran supposed to be a guarantee that they won't target KSA going ahead since there's this little matter of the conflict in the ME still persisting if you haven't noticed.

Didn't it occur to you that KSA is floating this pact & inviting Iran ostensibly to target Israel but mostly to protect itself from Iran unleashing drones & missiles on KSA everytime the situation in the ME gets out of hand or in response to US &/or Israel targeting Iran .

That it could also be KSA's attempts to get Iran to target the UAE given the fast deteriorating relations between those 2 countries .

Besides with the US firmly backing Israel do you sincerely think KSA with Turkey & Paxtan would have the guts to take on Israel ? Do you think these nations are suicidal especially after seeing what's Iran going thru ?

Do you think Egypt which is dependent on international aid which requires being in the good books of the west especially the US can afford to antagonise the US ?

Or Bangladesh which is broke & is probably looking at handouts for posting their military in conflict zones exclusively for peacekeeping operations ?

Syria is already a basket case devoid of a standing army or air force & not much of navy worth the name even in its hey day .

Did I inform you the MENA is a snake pit with rapidly shifting alliances where today mornings allies are afternoons enemies only to patch up in the evening.

Didn't I also ask you to focus on technical threads exclusively like I do advice Paddy from time to time for analysing geo politics & foreign affairs is not everybody's cup of tea ?
