Analysis Tracking USA VS China Trade war

If China is thinking of devalue the currency to tide over real life trade war issues, what can Trump and other nations do to prevent China gaining advantage. Devalued currency is a bigger danger to them, than to merchandise they sell abroad. Hence sooner than later China will be forced to balance the trade and get out of sell- sell motivation.

It's already artificially devalued. If they devalue it much more they'll struggle to afford oil and will struggle to get lenders except at exorbitant interest rates.

In all honesty we need to replicate that here in India. The motto here is making things from scratch... invite Chinese Pvt Companies to set up shop here. Or no access to market, like the Chinese have done to others I doubt they will oblige but have it as a precious precondition. If Chips and electronics are made here they will be costlier than china but they wont be back breaking expensive. the economy will adjust and adopt. the money circulation in domestic system will increase that's good, China has over capacity that is their problem, we have zero effing capacity that is our problem.

Low Cost high volume are not a headache, these are stuff that anyone can make, their USP s they make high Value High tech goods, cheap by sheer economies of scale, hi tech medium to high value goods is where the main moolah of the stuff lies.
what US & China practice is nothing but neo-colonialism. They import raw materials and export finished good there by impoverishing the importing country. As such there is little incentive for them to move it outside unless the finished products are sold as chinese products exported from china.

What India needs a strong medium scale industries who innovate and produce stuff. Instead we have brokers masquerading as industrialists who only specialize in importing machinery and selling finished products. Chinese on the other hand have long term strategy take for example semi-conductor industry. They import $400 worth of chips and now they want to replace that. They are busy scouting for technologies and have tie up with companies like AMD. AMD's EPYC processors are manufactured in china by a chinese company having a license deal with them. Where as India was begging AMD & Intel to set up a fabrication plant.

Fact is that no one is going to setup the industry where there is nothing. We should setup our own ecosystem to draw in others, if they will simply move to south east asian countries.

BEIJING — China’s leaders have sought to project confidence in the face of President Donald Trump’s tariffs and trade threats. But as it becomes clear a protracted trade war with the United States may be unavoidable, there are growing signs of unease inside the Communist political establishment.

In recent days, officials from the Commerce Ministry, the police and other agencies have summoned exporters to ask about plans to lay off workers or shift supply chains to other countries.

With stocks slumping and the currency dropping 9 percent against the dollar since mid-April, censors have been deleting a torrent of criticism online, some of it directed at President Xi Jinping’s leadership.

State news outlets, by contrast, have sought to promote the official line, with the authorities restricting the use of the phrase “trade war.”

Still, policy disputes over how to bolster the economy have at times spilled into the open, with the state media sometimes coming under attack for boasting about China’s economic strengths.

Trump’s China trade war pulls consumer technology into the crossfire

If the trade war escalates — and Trump has shown no sign of backing down — some worry that the public’s faith in the economy could be shaken, exposing the nation to much more serious problems than a drop in exports. New economic data on Tuesday showed slower growth in investment and consumer spending, and there are fears that the financial crisis in Turkey could spread.

China’s leaders have argued that they can outlast Trump in a trade standoff. Their authoritarian system can stifle dissent and quickly redirect resources, and they expect Washington to be gridlocked and come under pressure from voters feeling the pain of trade disruptions.

But the Communist Party is vulnerable in its own way. It needs growth to justify its monopoly on power and is obsessed with preventing social instability. Xi’s strongman grip may be hindering effective policymaking, as officials fail to pass on bad news, defer decisions to him and rigidly carry out his orders, for better or worse.

Beijing has already had to shift course once, edging away from threats to match American tariffs dollar for dollar. Confronting the possibility that the tariffs may remain for months or years and that Chinese access to the American market could tighten further, Xi does not appear to have settled on a strategy for limiting the damage or for persuading Trump to negotiate a deal.

I guess things may be getting interesting. Wonder the US response to this.......

China 'training for strikes' on US targets
Trump is all barks no bite, he can only use his economic might against China but will shy away from any armed conflict.
Even the economic might is limited, China can hurt the dollar and EU is not too happy about the ongoing trade war which is directly affecting EU companies as well. Trump is losing allies.

China and US didn't want a direct war. China want to stay low and strengthen the country before it could actually dictate terms, but US understood that time is not in its favor and waiting game will only bring balance of power in Chinese favor. So, they started a Coldwar when they actually have an edge. This coldwar is going to last decades and US will try to slowdown Chinese growth by any means possible.

I agree with you but me thinks this dog may have rabies. He seems to be lashing out and upsetting those that are historical allies of the US - you can’t keep upsetting allies without eventually suffering the consequences

Trump is doing great. He's making Europe take ownership of their own future rather than making them depend on the US. Even if this weakens global US power, Trump is fine with that. The more unreliable the US becomes to Europe, the more reliable Europe becomes to itself. Europe has been on a free ride for a long time, it's time they up their defence expenditure.

The racist basturd is creating havoc around the world - splitting kids up from parents - hatred for coloured ( that includes you my brown friend ) - make sure the poor get poorer in the US - and let’s not forget grabbing the odd pussy here and their - and you think he’s doing just fine. Carry on my friend - I will stick to my opinion.

He's referring to the strategic PoV . You're looking at the issue thru humanitarian lens.

splitting kids up from parents

It's different from the Obama policy? Want the numbers of how many kids were separated from "their parents" under Obama? Heck the fake news even (mistakenly or on purpose who knows) used pictures of some facilities during 2014 to try put that on just Trump...and then scratch their head why their approval ratings are at an all time low (much much lower than Trump's btw).

Should there be revisit of criminal cases for US citizens as well? No matter your crime, if you have kids, you should not be separated from them?

You do understand underlying border policy is set by legislative branch? If they want to make illegal border crossings as non-criminal, that is on house and senate (and their voters) to do....not president....who simply enforces the law.

hatred for coloured ( that includes you my brown friend )

Preach it to the Black and Hispanic people who now increasingly support Trump. Black approval has increased from 15% at start of Trump presidency to 36% now (rasmussen polling - the only one to call the election somewhat correctly). Trump has highest hispanic approval rating of any republican leader in recent times too.

As for his purported "hatred".....did Trump attend an equivalent of the black supremacist church that Obama did for many years? Or pose for pictures all smiling with the equivalent of the staunch black supremacist/racist/anti-semite Louis Farrakhan....and then collude with the Media to have it covered up?

Because all of the above happened with Obummer....so is obummer a racist white-hating person deep down? (Because there is more case to be made on that regarding what actions he did way more than can be made with Trump).

So you ought to approach with show on the other foot first, rather than treat Trump as something entirely on its own.

make sure the poor get poorer in the US

Not according to the latest economic data on jobs and unemployment (and probably playing a large part in the approval ratings improving among these segments).

Poor getting "poorer" long term is mostly linked to failed democrat policies of welfare spending (with higher intention of creating captive vote dependencies) starting with LBJ.

With genuine equal opportunity over govt enforced "equal results", people can actually get off the plantation of the KKK-democrat party...who now have switched their hooded gear for the much more favourable winds of intersectionality and identity politics (the aim is same all along - utter unquestionable power, esp over minorities). Just refer to transition of Hillary Clintons beloved mentor Robert Byrd for just one example.

and let’s not forget grabbing the odd pussy here and their - and you think he’s doing just fine.

Trump's main detractors (the democrat party) ought to again use shoe on the other foot regarding Bill Clinton ( and Hillary Clinton use of bimbo eruption squads in return instead of actually sympathising with Bill's victims...so much for meetoo). Not to mention forget about talking about pussy grabbing getting caught on tape (shop talk lot of powerful, rich men engage in), what about actually getting serviced by an intern, using your position of power...while BEING president?...and then PERJURING yourself both on national TV and court?

Yet they still trumpet him as some wonderful, excellent President....and hillary's actions as perfectly excusable too. Again one has to apply the same standards to everyone first, rather than exclusively judge trump with them. Trump has real flaws, but those criticizing him on a seperate set of standards that they will never apply to their own...lack any real genuine credibility as a result.

I know sir. It also tells me hell of a lot of from his humanitarian behaviour what he is about. The guy has a personal vendetta and score to settle. If he has to get their by abuse, disruption and creating havoc - he really doesn't care.
The retard blatantly lies about stats and figures and simply gets away with it. If he doesn't like it - its fake news. If hes caught out - then its a democratic conspiracy.
Personally the guy makes me vomit......

Get over the domestic politics in the USA lol. Don't let it cloud your judgement on the international scene.

China is getting squeezed hard.

Business and politics is the same . It's all about supreme self interest. There's no space for sentimentality.

Then there's optics. I guess no one here seems to think Trump is a gentleman or even a moral politician. He has a constituency to address . The same ones who've been taken for a ride in the name of globalization is good for them . He's trying to better this lot .In terms of the economy ,their way of life , etc. See this as a long overdue correction. Political correctness has run its course and has been found severely wanting on several fronts. At the end of the day , it's roti , kapda makaan and other sundries - to the privileged , to quote Z.A . Bhutto, whether in Pakistan , UK , US or India.

I'm truly surprised you seem to think otherwise .
