Dear Members, A news has surfaced that a film is being made on this topic by our so called secular Director-Gowarikar. Let us discuss this Battle and its effect on Indian politics and and why Marathas lost this battle? What could have made a difference to this battle and why Hindu rulers especially Rajputs decided to stay away from the battle while every North Indian Muslim King had joined the alliance of Abdali?

Maratha resistance to Mongol rule started under Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Their aim was to establish a Hindu empire all over India and throw out Mongols and muslim rulers of India. They were able to establish a very competent fighting force which was the only force encompassing all castes of India from Brahmins to so called Shudras after the Battle of Bharaich of 1033AD. They respected the Varna system and not the caste system. Than how did they go so wrong in creating and achieving their dream when they had become the most dominant force in India in 1720 after the death of Aurangzeb and his sons? The reason for it lies in the succession battles which happened between Marathas Led By Tarabai on one side and Peshwas who supported Shahuji Maharaj.
The initial period saw lot of money and manpower wasted between these two factions till Shahuji Maharaj emerged victorious. During this period, Marathas kept Mongols alive as rulers of India to ensure their support in their internal wars. By 1730, under Peshwa Bajirao, Marathas had no reason to play second fiddle to Mongols but they continued to do so and also did not make any effort to replace muslim kings with their own or Hindu Kings. Asaf Jah-1, the first Nizam of Hyderabad is one such example and because of whom marathas lost to East India Company in 1818.

They seemed more interested in collecting Chowth and another 7% above that to finance their war efforts rather than expand their territory and become rulers of India by replacing Mongols. This system of collecting 7% over Chowth, is what is what was converted into Hafta by Dawood Ibrahim. This is typical to Marathas only. Marathas defied the very basic idea of Hindu Patshahi from Attock to Kuttock.

The refusal of Shahuji to move from Satara to Delhi and shift his capital and seat of power resulted in the defeat in third battle of Panipat. It is very surprising and shocking that Marathas who owe their victory in Deccan against Mongols to the resistance put up by Jaats , Gurjars and Brahmins of Delhi-Mathura belt, were not shown the respect by them. In 1753, a battle took place between Jaat Ruler Maharaja Surajmal and Marathas. With all their might, Marathas lost that battle after six months.

I will now go on and analyse the reasons for their defeat in subsequent posts. How is it that a Peshwa like Bajirao who died due to sun stroke while trying to gallop to Delhi to Take on Nadir Shah in battle and who created such a formidable war machine called Marathas, happened to be the cause of loss in Third Battle of Panipat even though he did not take part in the battle and was not alive.

The refusal of Shahuji to move from Satara to Delhi and shift his capital and seat of power resulted in the defeat in third battle of Panipat.

With all due respect, rubbish.

Primary reason, was the refusal of the Rajputs and the Jats in fighting with the Marathas. Shahuji's refusal to shift their power base had less to do with the outcome of the battle, than the refusal of the Rajputs and Jats in fighting against the Mongols.

Marathas were reluctant kings and lacked the ability to be the real kings of India inspite of being ferocious warriors. While Peshwa Bajirao created regional satraps like Gaikwads, Scindhias & Holkars, they lacked the vision to unify India. They defeated Rajput kings and forced them to pay the same chowth and hafta for protection and never tried to bring them within the fold of Maratha empire while Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Holkars called them themselves to be descendants of Mewar dynasty. They could have easily given Khud Mukhtari and be a regional satrap who would contribute troops for their war campaigns while being a part of extended Hindu Maratha empire. The imposition of such hge taxes on the Rajput kings resulted in exploitation of hindu farmers who had to pay much higher part of their produce to their kings to make up for the demands of Marathas.
When the battlelines were drawn for third battle of Panipat, marathas went to Rajput kings, asking for help in the battle. They put a condition that you need to give us freedom to rule our kingdom and reduce the chowth, Marathas refused. The Rajput kings refused to join them in battle and agreed to continue to pay them chowth. Jaats under maharaja Surajmal Joined the war effort and the Jaats had the finest cavalry of all times as they were medium cavalry with the finest horses looted from Mongol armies which used to transit between Delhi and Deccan. Those horse were also *censored* and Jaats had the most ferocious war fighting capability compared to even rajput armies of the day. The Rajput kings had put a condition to support Marathas in the battle which was rejected by the regional satraps like Scindhias and Gaikwads.
Only people who wanted to replace Mongols as kings of India were the Jaats under Maharaja Surajmal and their army was led by one of my ancestors.
However Malharrao, entered into a secret understanding with Najib Khan who was the most hated and most targeted person by Jaat rulers. Maharaja Surajmal wanted to be placed against the front occupied by Najib Khan to kill him but Malharrao intervened and called Maharaja Surajmal unreliable resulting in him being declared a person non grata and jaat forces were to be finished off next day by marathas. In the middle of the night, Maharaja Surajmal and his forces left the Maratha camp and returned to faridabad with Holkars in hot pursuit. No son of a bitch can ever deny this as my own family stopped Holkars under the Kalkaji Temple in Delhi and forced them to withdraw who were chasing Jaat forces. My family had crowned Maharaja Surajmal as the King of Delhi before this battle.

Marathas were more of thugs interested in earning chowth than ruling and creating an empire. they are directly responsible for what happened to them in Third battle of panipat. I am not finished yet. Please wait and read what I will post next. Marathas did not lose the battle, Holkars made them lose it. And the refusal of marathas to respect and listen to the advice of Jaats resulted in their rout.

That does not mean, the battle was lost because they did not move to Delhi, which is what your statement meant.

Your point of view of them being thugs, is your opinion. Every empire on this earth demanded payment. The Marathas were not saints and did what empire builders did. They conquered. Now, the Rajputs and Jats refused to join the fight against the Mongols on the side of the Marathas. To put it mildly, by not fighting on the side of the Marathas, the Rajputs and Jats sided with Abdali.

You can spin it whichever way you like. But at the end of the day, this is what resulted in their defeat.

Again typical myopic North Indian. Please tell me the extent of the true kings of India. Tell me the extent of the empire under Surajmal. India does not start and end with Delhi. Your comparing the Maratha Empire to the Jaats under Maharaja Surajmal is laughable, to say the least.

This is going to be painful ....

Please do not disturb the northie bamman butthurt.

There are lots in line where we Maratha are concerned.

And the same guys will talk of Hindu unity today.

When they could have got their nation 500 years earlier.

And fought with the enemy.

Jaichands ....

Cheers, Doc

In 1780, Aurangzeb signed a a deal with Mewar to let Mongol forces transit thru their kingdom. What forced him to do that when he had a very secure line thru delhi and Agra? Did this not make even Mewar an accomplice in a war against Marathas and Jaats who were fighting Mongols right under their nose in Delhi-Agra belt much before Sikhs came to the scene? The Marathas cheated this entire nation when they decided to support Mongol rulers as head of india. I would like to see who denies this with facts. Marathas are directly responsible for the arrival of British as our rulers when we had thrown out Mongols and also for defeat in 1857 as the Holkars were the first ones to sign in with East India Company in 1805.

Tell me one Hindu king who had desired to be king of Delhi after Rao Hemu who did not get supported by rest of Hindu Kings? Every rajput king was a traitor to say the least. I agree with the statements made by Javed Akhtar when he stated that every Rajput king was serving the invaders.

NOT AGAIN, Who funds these Secular directors, BJP should clamp down on their funding, Marathas would be mighty pissed off, are they not protesting, Shiv Sena ,MNS etc. ?

Maharaja Surajmal was an awoed opponent of Najib Khna and he wanted to be on the front which was directly against Najib Khans forces in third battle of Panipat. Holkar had negotiated a very secret deal with Najib Khan and opposed Maharaja Surajmal's request to take on Najib Khan in alliance with marathas along the Yamuna Bank. This failure of Sadashivrau Bhau single handely resulted in the loss in that battle. I will explain as to how it was the single biggest betrayal by one maratha to an entire empire of Marathas which resulted in this defeat.
Could Jaats have made a difference to the battle outcome? After all Jaat cavalry comprised just about 8000 soldiers?

Have you ever even seen what a sword looks like or weiled one? Thru out your history as Parsi you lost to Indians. never ever able to cross Indus even as Zorostrians. Now you want to teach us warfare. Go ahead. make my day. BTW, I too am Half Maratha. My mother was from the family of those maratha brahmins who fought third battle of Panipat and settled down in haryana after the loss rather than go back to Maharastra to show their defeated faces.

Ignore him ,hes is in neither Maratha or a Hindu, he just trolls, he is alarmed at the Hindu unity, wants them divided so their Secular party / gravy train can continue things as usual in Nehru's Secularism..

Just wait and watch how a new narrative will come out painting Marathas as villains and muslims as saints. After all in Padmavat, Rani Padmini had chosen to strike Delhi when Muslims were to be in their Namaz. Something which no hindu king has ever done and something which every muslim king had done. Its going to be another hit job by these so called secular directors funded by dubai mafia.

Sorry, Typo. the date is 1680.

You are funny.

Forget the Persians. Out of your league.

Let the butthurt flow about the Maratha.

There is a reason why we have a healthy disdain for your Hindutva.

When all you could do when the time came to fight was join forces with the enemy.

It is a fact that the Brahman elite conspired with the Muslim Invaders to maintain their hold on Indian society.

And their armies as a result marched literally unmolested till central India before they came up against the Maratha.

You were too scared to fight. So you needed to pay protection money. And fund the war coffers.

A big lol at the whining.

Cheers, Doc

Brahmins are forbidden to be killed or from the times vedic religion called sanatan Dharma came into being. even after over 10k years of our history we are just 5.5% of Indian population. far less than Shudras. why and how? Who were the only people who refused to convert or send their daughters to invaders or chose to fight? Only Brahmins. Parsis shitted in their pants as they did in Iran when islamists killed them.
