Taliban wants positive relationship with India, welcomes New Delhi's contribution in Afghanistan

India should not engage Taliban at this point wait a couple of years and see what unfolds.
All the overtures of Taliban is just ISI/Pakistan Foriegn office coached statements.

And for a change stop being baniyas, as far as Geo-strategic implication, India hasn't done jack shit in the past two decades, so no need to worry now. Focus on more important things on the home front, build up the economy focus on infra and shore up defenses. Leverage economy to its strategic goal and really dedicate 10% effort in nation-building as we do on *censored*ing elections.

Nothing if you want to be friends with terrorists.
No, Categorically overwhelming majority of Indians despise Taliban and any friendly overtures made to taliban goes against the grain of India. If this government does, I hope the opposition takes it to town.

Fancy Paddy made that statement where their defense secretary had this to say exactly a month ago where nobody foresaw the Taliban taking over as soot as they did surprising the Taliban themselves.

Pls stop quoting that fool & lowering the standard of discussion on this topic. He's completely out of his depths on current affairs.

Channels of communication ought to be open with them but kept at a very basic lavel.

Our options in Afghanistan was limited to begin with & those limited options have been foreclosed now. There's a very interesting discussion between Parvez Hoodbhoy & Afrasiyab Khattak on the recent developments in Afghanistan & it's implications on Pakistan which I'd tag you on the relevant thread.

On topic, the fun for Paxtan is about to begin but before that we ought to brace ourselves for a tough time in the next 3-4 yrs. The Chinese threat on the LAC will persist. Once the Taliban settles down after customary slaughter of all their opponents in true Pashtun tradition, we can expect Paxtan to turn the heat on Kashmir with the aid of their new friends in Kabul.

Any escalation in affairs like the Balakot strikes post a Pulwama like blast will have to factor in further escalation from Paxtan while having the Chinese breathing down our necks. Conversely if the Chinese decide to make their final moves across the LAC, it could also encourage PA & it's usual proxies apart from the Qabailies from Afghanistan to take advantage of such situation.

An interesting aside which may not be totally irrelevant here is the 3rd or 4th wave of the Chinese virus totally devastating Iran . Not much news has percolated into the outside world but a few Iranian expatriate handles I follow on Twitter have been making doomsday predictions coz they lack any vaccine , healthcare services have totally collapsed & the Chinese vaccines have proven to be completely ineffective. The Iranians have refused the US & UK vaccines of which the former wasn't on offer in all probability & the latter on offer only coz it was an international initiative. Russia & India are both catering to their own populations.

How does that dovetail into present day war torn Afghanistan & thru it into Paxtan is something time will answer.
