Sunken missing Indonesian submarine found broken into pieces

The KRI "Cakra" (1981) has completed her Major Technical Shutdown (MTS), conducted at her Surabaya shipyard by PT. PAL with DSME, and started in 2018. She is now the only operational submarine in TNI-AL. (…)

(…)Notable works in MTA No. 4: inspection and complete maintenance of the resistant hull, maintenance and replacement of the main components of the electrical and mechanical installations, maintenance and repair of the main components of the combat system (including at least one new mast) and replacement of the combat system, inspection and maintenance of the sonar suite.

PT. PAL stated (21 February 2022) that DSM&E's participation in the MTA could be done on a remote basis due to the health crisis. The workload plan was 35% of the construction of a submarine and that PT. PAL had received 65% of the workload for this MTA.
(…)

(…) The KRI "Cakra" (1981) is the only operational Indonesian submarine as the three Nagapasa class submarines have been unable to achieve their main operational characteristics since 2017.

And since the admission to active service of each of these ships: none has ever launched a tactical weapon (heavy torpedo, etc).

Without the original OEM input , any platform will face problems.

The thing is that Indonesia has ordered 3 more South Korean Type 209s.

Indian planners should take a note here. As South Korea is offering for P75I too. Personally I hope sense prevails and we choose French option.

Indonesian MoD, Prawobo Subianto, wants to cancel the “3 more” SK T-209 order. i can understand that, sense would prevail as you say.
Then, there would be 3 options: TKMS, Naval Group, or a Turkish Co, i been told…

There’s a MoU with NG for 2 Scorpène 2000 for the TNI-AL, signed in feb.22 :)
