Yes the above point gives impression that on its own the tri services can not come up with ideal specification details on their own hence need multi platform trial experience. Army certainly lack desired technical knowledgeable personnel that can chalk out the technical part on its own. We have heard about dearth of proper technocraft personnel in the service rank before. Such visionaries often get sidelined or move on or become victim of lobby politics.

So as a service they derive it from user experience as an alternative. Technology keep getting complex so this chasm will keep getting longer.

Us army itself doesn't operate Two different types of wheeled apc, while themselves need to fight on desert of middle east, plains of Europe, Islands of pacific, also needs to be capable of operating in cold Alaska.

Our economy is still quite dependent on Uncle Sam along with our whole Tejas line. Got to dangle them some carrot for them to accept our dealings with our old and time-tested friend Russia.

I think there's an effort (seems very haphazard & coincidental, but maybe that's by design) to create combined arms formations that are largely compatible to operate alongside US Stryker Brigade Combat Teams.
