SCO members condemn Pahalgam terror attack: 'Perpetrators must be...'
India had pushed for the condemnation of cross-border terrorism in joint statements and documents that the 10-member SCO bloc would adopt.
Members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) have condemned the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, calling for perpetrators behind the attack to be brought to justice.
"The Member States strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025. They expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the dead and the wounded. They further stated that perpetrators, organisers and sponsors of such attacks must be brought to justice," reads the declaration.

PM Modi visits Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic for SCO Summit. Strengthens India's Central Asia ties, discusses security, connectivity, and trade.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived on a four-day visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. Modi will be in Uzbekistan on August 29-30. He will attend the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in the Kyrgyz Republic from August 31 to September 1.
In his departure statement, Modi said that the visit would help strengthen India’s strategic partnerships in Central Asia, and advance the “shared pursuit of peace, stability and prosperity, values that lie at the heart of India’s engagement with the world.”
Modi added that he was looking forward to advancing India’s vision for the SCO, which was anchored in security, connectivity and opportunity, and to working with other members to create a region free from the scourge of terrorism.
Modi will first land in Tashkent for bilateral discussions with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The two leaders will discuss how to strengthen the India-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership. This is Modi’s fourth visit to the Central Asian nation.
Also on the agenda are talks on cooperation in energy, trade and investment, digital connectivity, and defence.
Modi and Mirziyoyev will discuss advancing the shared visions of Viksit Bharat and Uzbekistan 2030.
Modi will also visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
From Tashkent, Modi will fly to Bishkek to participate in the SCO on the invitation of the Kyrgyz Republic’s President, Sadyr Zhaparov. India has been a full member of the group since 2017.
The Prime Minister will address the SCO. He is expected to highlight India’s priorities of security, connectivity and opportunity in his speech, according to a release by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Modi will hold bilateral meetings with SCO leaders on the sidelines of the summit. According to ANI, Modi will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 31. The two leaders are expected to review the broader India-Russia relationship during their discussion.
