One dead, three injured in clashes between two groups in UP

AGRA: One person was killed after clashes broke out between two groups in Kasganjcity on Friday. Three people have been injured in the incident, that happened during a flag rally taken out on two-wheelers by some youths in the city.
According to sources, some members in the rally allegedly raised slogans targeting a community, after which stones were pelted and shots were fired on the bikers.
Speaking to TOI, IG Sanjeev Gupta said, "An unscheduled flag rally on motor-bikes were taken out by group of local youths. While they were passing through a mixed-population area, the group engaged in an altercation with the local resident on an unknown issue, which triggered heavy stone-pelting and shots were fired. Till now we have one confirmed casualty and three people have sustained minor injuries."
UP chief minister Yogi Adityanathordered the administration to provide every possible help to the victim's family.
In a tweet by the CM's office, the CM appealed to the two sides to maintain peace and ordered the local administration to take stringent possible action against those who had disturbed the peace in the district.
Meanwhile, DGP office PRO Rahul Srivastava in a press release said, "Youth identified as Chandan has succumbed to bullet injury, while another youth Naushad injured in firing has been admitted in Aligarh government hospital."
The incident took place in Bilramgate area, which is merely 500 meters away from the Kotwali Nagar police station. At the time of the incident, policemen were attending the Republic Day function at the Soro police line. The police reached the spot after nearly half an hour. In the clash, one mini truck, three SUVs and two other vehicles were vandalised on Mathura-Bareilly highway road passing via Bilramgate. Due to stone-pelting and firing, several bikers left their two-wheelers and ran away to safety.
Later in the afternoon, a mosque was set on fire close to where the clashes had happened.
Heavy police force has been deployed in the area. PAC personnel from neighbouring districts have been roped in to bring the situation under control. Senior officials including district magistrate RP Singh, superintendent of police, Sunil Kumar Singh, inspector general of police, Aligarh range, Sanjeev Gupta, ADG Agra zone Ajay Anand and other officials patrolled the area.
ADG Agra zone, Ajay Anand said, "The situation is under control. We have deployed heavy police force and are ensuring no public property, government offices are vandalised or any person is hurt."
"The men involved in the violence will be identified and will be arrested soon," he assured.
The local administration has cordoned off the city limits and clamped curfew in Kasganj.
After the incident, BJP MP Rajveer Singh alias Raju Bhaiya visited Kasganj and met local officials to get input on the situation.
Akash Singhal, senior member of Bajrang Dal's Kasganj unit said, "The youth on motor-bike were local students and residents, they were not from our group."
