Off-Topic Chit-Chat

Typical Brits... But I hope incidents such as this one would make Indians aware of their duplicity...

Indian family offloaded from British Airways flight ‘over crying 3-yr-old’

NEW DELHI: An Indian family has alleged that a leading European airline offloaded them from the flight because their three-year-old child was crying. While the child’s mother had managed to comfort the child when the plane was taxiing for take off, the allegedly intimidating behaviour of a cabin crew while asking the child to be seated scared the kid even more and then he started sobbing inconsolably.

The aircraft then returned to the terminal and the Indian family, along with a fewo other Indians seated behind them, were offloaded. This alleged racial behaviour took place on British Airways London-Berlin flight (BA 8495) of July 23 with a 1984 batch officer of Indian Engineering Services currently posted in the road transport ministry and his family.

The joint secretary-level officer has now complained to aviation minister Suresh Prabhu alleging “humiliation and racial behaviour” by the airline. A British Airways spokesperson said: “We take such claims like this extremely seriously and do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. We have started a full investigation and are in direct contact with the customer.”

The officer’s letter to Prabhu says: “After security announcement for seat belt, my wife fastened the seat belt to my three-year-old baby... (Seated on a separate seat) my son felt uncomfortable and started crying. My wife managed to (comfort) him by taking him in her arms…. male crew member approached us and started shouting..
scolded my son to go to his seat...” “...My son got terrified and started crying(inconsolably). (An)other Indian family sitting behind us offered the child some biscuits to console him. My wife again put the boy on his designated seat and fastenedthe seat belt even though he kept on crying...,” the letter says.

The aircraft then started taxiing to the runway. “(The) same crew member came again and shouted at my son that ‘you bloody keep quiet otherwise you will be thrown out of the window’ and we would be offloaded. We were petrified,” it adds.

The plane then returned to the terminal. The officers says the crew member called in security personnel to the aircraft who took away their boarding cardsa and of those seated behind them. “My family and the other Indian family, which had offered biscuits to mys son were offloaded….,” the complaint said.

The family then made its own arrangement to travel from London City airport to London. “…the crew member made racist remarks and used words like ‘bloody’ about Indians…. I request to have the matter investigated and take strictest possible action,” he concludes.

Just adding their India-specific ad here...

It's definitely not about any issue of citizenship. It's about portraying an action taken against illegal immigrants as a 'witch-hunt against ethnic minorities'.

This is nothing but a pure hit-job against India & clearly shows the double standards of the British.

No one would have heard about this if I hadn't posted this here. Very intelligent, Padraig. :ROFLMAO:
Clearly Thailand saw it the same way though.

I hadn't, so you're clearly increasing the reach of the news.

My personal opinion. the Indian kids on board any aircraft are noisy and ill disciplined quite frequently. For the parents too, children making noise is taken as 'children being children'. What stupid logic is that?

But then it holds, for the average Indian traveler playing music without ear phones or watching a video over a mobile in similar manner during flight is also their 'right' and of course, the loud noisy talks across the aisle and adjacent too! And if one checks, either they argue or the favourite 'koi baat nahi' or 'it's ok' as if you have bothered them by complaining and they are magnanimous enough to shut it off.

On my own flight over from London, I had to tell the parents to tell their children to behave and drive in the point that it is not my job to censure their kids or them. Even then the stupid parents looked lost and could not control their child. How could they, when they don't teach their children to behave at home!

The fabric of Indian society is seeped in ill-discipline and thoughtlessness. Common sense and civic manners are non-existent. Good thing. Indians need a boot

i have a almost 3 year old kid right now..
if he decides to cry, i cant stop without diverting him
if he is made to sit separately , he wouldn t stop the cry, much less threatened
Disciplining him at that age looks more of oppression than making him understand..
i would prefer to avoid the trip itself unless absolutely necessary.

When the parents are helpless, its humane for other parents to step in and help.
what did the other couple do wrong to get sent out ?

if the parents are reason for the kid to cry its different ..

i agree with you on other counts like group of loud mouths chatting or loud music in their mobile in the train, disturbing the sleep of others .
i also feel irritated when certain rude passengers take advantage of politeness of others.

Idiot, the homepage (Home - BBC News) is not specific for any geographic location. Try websites like geopeeker or Teleport to check the same.

Neither is twtter/ FB feed tailored to any geographical location. You are way too stupid.

Now I'm modifying your last sentence so that it makes sense... "Good news about India simply doesn't make good news.''

If bad news make good news for BBC, where is the coverage on their social media pages & homepage ?

Now behave yourself and show some courtesy towards @BMD. Just because Birts are polite we should not take undue advantage of them. In the end they believe in iron fist under a velvet glove.

Title by BBC on india is always incorrect. :sneaky:
It's usually incorrect anyway but Amal will keep spreading fake news. He should be on their payroll, maybe he is, nothing else would explain his level of interest.

Brits are polite ? Are you joking or haven't you learned anything about the duplicity of these kind of people ?

Anyway @BMD is Irish. His status is similar to those 'Brown Coconuts' who used to suck up to their British masters during colonial rule.

Sir, even if what you say is true it still doesn't justify the steward shouting at a three year old (using expletives nonetheless) and the entire family & another uninvolved family getting deboarded later.

If a three year old crying is impolite, a steward using expletives in front of a three year old is even worse !!!

And as usual Indians are busy finding faults with other Indians.

This self-flaggelating mentality is our bane.

Of course it is, you keep telling yourself that. And no Indian ever did wrong huh?

Where did Thai news portray it as 'witch hunt against minorities' ? Nowhere. Such kind of editorializing is unique to BBC.

Stick to any one narrative - your earlier argument was they were only reporting the news as it is.
It has the same headline.

India strips 4 million of citizenship

NEW DELHI: More than four million people left off a draft list of citizens in northeast India on Monday have effectively been made stateless, campaigners said, likening them to the Rohingya minority driven out of Myanmar.

Besides, you always blame our immigrants on our international interference and I seem to remember you interfered in Bangladesh. So, this is karma right. You should just be grateful that they haven't started blowing you up yet.

Complain to Twitter, maybe you can have the BBC's account suspended for fake news.

Sir.

Were you there to hear the steward use expletives? Not even a retard will use it. And if the child would have been injured, the company would have acted against the steward. I have yet to come across an instance of any airline employee misbehave without provocation, and I travel a lot, with anyone. Most of the times, I see the reverse.

And yes, Indians finding fault with Indians is the first step to improving ourselves first and foremost. Let us see around us, small example of blaring horns within residential colonies. Every idiot knows it is not supposed to be done, but.....? What does that indicate? A respect for other's rights? At airports, you are in queue at the security to put your luggage in the X-Ray machine, yet quite a few idiots think they can step in front of you and jump the queue ... what does that indicate? A respect for civic behavioral norms and etiquettes?

Shall give you example of London, was staying in general area of Russel Square, which has London University premises and college students around, the area was quite clean. Then went to Hounslow, which is dominated by people from Indian sub-continent, filthy streets and trash all over ... what is that indicative of?

Our bane is in not taking a moment to think and try and understand where we are wrong, and what the other is saying. And taking a corrective action where required. Instead, we spend more time in justifying our actions and if have nothing else to do, then declare we are an ancient civilization.

I shall give you a beautiful example of a Colonel sahab who has double M. Tech from IIT and is by no means a fool. Yet the gentleman has been forwarding articles and posts from PDF where Sikhs are being praised for their bravery, and PDF is known for their 'martial supremacy' stupidities and especially in light of Pakistan launching the pro Khalistan efforts, these are subtle ways of getting the target audience of Indian Sikhs in having a favorable outlook towards the author/site. Thereafter one can subtly change the thrust to suit a narrative. It is classical psy-ops.

Pointed it out to the good colonel to desist in whatsapp groups. The gentleman failed to grasp what was being said to him. Is posting more on Nalwa etc.

What I want to drive in is the point that the counter to this narrative is Sikh troops being used to suppress 1857 movements and Punjab siding with British, and of course, one particular unit of Indian army mutinying in aftermath of Golden Temple operation and multiple cases of Sikh troops killing their officers etc, can twist to show duplicity and unreliability of Sikhs as a counter offensive thereby making a mess of the situation. But what does that do? It simply fans the divide being aimed for. So I just shut up and let the Colonel sahab be happy.

Correlate with a question I was asked by a family from New Zealand. The wife was a nurse. She asked me why the Indians with her, when asked where they are from, reply Kerala and not India?

Similar question was asked of me by an Australian in Dubai. There, if an Indian is asked where they are from, usual answer is Kerala and not India .....

Guess what does that indicate?

i ve heard Indians were discriminated for the supply of drinks ( booze ) in airlines.:p

i never felt pity for Indians there.. there was a chance for the sufferer to change things for himself, for ex he can buy drink or leave the habit of drinking in flight.

but here its because of kid , there is not much can be done by the affected person.

since the narrative is from the affected party . and there is nothing from Airlines side,
essentially we are hearing one side of the story .

there are instances i have seen in Singapore Airlines , Mother with kid is given front seat with lot of leg room.

wrt to singh / mallu story ..

In my whatsapp group few nut cases are posting stuff like Tamil Nadu vs India , that how TN can be rich without being part of India.

how GOI is ignoring TN, not doing justice to TN, NEET exams, Students in Bihar heck even IAS gets top mark undermining the chances for the son & daughter s of TN.. while they know jack Shi*t

Evils are there every where, they try to share memes as if , If TN comes out of India, it ll do better.

i had to refute those with common sense , and i was even called Bakth ..
finally i had to leave that group & said i ll rejoin after elections 2019.

congress loyalists, BJP haters & few NUT separatists just share bilious memes & forward messages without understanding the content .

And this is in batch of Doctors studied from Govt medical college.

i wont even have to think about general public consumption of these memes and forwarded messages.

infact a doc from my batch who supported Pakistan in cricket matches those days , came out out of his silence to support Pakistan in open when my messages were against Pak. when i told Pak is going to bankrupt soon, India can threaten Pak with Indus river water etc..
i was literally shocked .

from my understanding he studied with sponsorship of Muslim religious fund , and more than believed his madrassa teachings , went to gulf after MBBS, and came back to settle in KERALA.

after all this i learnt we weren t far from Pakistsan, just safe enough . but not immune enough.
1 decade of Crappy rule can take us back to Pakistan level.

I always point out that any potential Khalistan should have Lahore as its capital.
