Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning and F-22 'Raptor' : News & Discussion

What I like with this plane is how urgent LM treat a failure. How professionnal they are.

It's kept in the open exposed to the elements which in this case happens to be rains that too very heavy showers given it's the monsoon season here in India only coz the Brits wanted it where they could see it.

There's also a posse of CISF - Central Indian Security Force jawans or personnel guarding the aircraft on the tarmac at the request of the RN / MoD .

What's more up until recently the pilots refused accomodation in the guest quarters of the base insisting on them being accomodated in an area 24x7 , which if I'm not mistaken , is either the guest area or some other facility where the aircraft is constantly in their field of view.

Strange that the UK hasn't yet sent a C-17 or AN-124 to transport the stranded jet back home. And this is a first-world country we're talking about.

I think the Russians who commented, might know more than you, They have the S-300 and in January news, Russia was sending them the S-400, as well, they have their own stuff
At least you didn't say they don't have an airforce
It's true, but russian SAM layers were not so impressiv in Ukraine.
So....

It's a real pity Paddy isn't around. Not that he'd have enlightened us but it'd sure be a real pleasure to kick his a r s e.

RN is fast reaching the doldrums. All this is courtesy cutbacks in defence expenditure since the end of the Cold War & consequent loss of capabilities & capacities.

To add to their woes they had Brexit followed the Wuhan Virus Pandemic & now the wars in Ukraine & the ME. Their economy is gradually shrinking .

Not too long ago they had OPVs pay visit to their overseas territories in the Pacific Ocean. What's more there were frequent incidents of Iran boarding ships flying the UK flag .

All these are indications of a once great power in steep decline. All they've now is their false pride which cometh before a fall.

On topic it probably has to do with a paucity of both spares & transporters given the massive movement of the US transporters & Refuellers to support the US bombing in Iran . The UK was part of the support structure I guess.

Now that it is over it's a question of mobilization of resources & doing the job. Let's see how things shape up.

They've been recapitalizing lately with new Type-26 and Type-31 FFG under construction. But they have had to make cutbacks elsewhere to fund them. For eg: HMS Ocean and the Albion class LPDs were retired with plenty of life left in them. Imo, the IN should take a look at those hulls before someone else snaps them up. Should be available for a bargain price. INS Jalashwa is getting too old.

RN lacks funds to build ships & somehow if they do build it they lack finances to operate it .

In our case Leaderji doesn't want to spend money. He probably thinks it comes out of his pocket . Or he may wish to take all this to his grave.

In other words don't have high hopes & if you do , you'd be disappointed in which case @Sathya here has some time & tested remedies which I'd request he share with you.
