Islamic Republic of Pakistan : News, Discussions & Updates

Good for us since our improving ties with UAE will help in Erdogan's Turkey reducing its high level of support for Pakistan. Plus UAE-Israel relations are improving and Israel's diplomatic clout will be helpful to us.
grt thinking , it can cut other way too. They can also think that they can control us well.

They already do though. The entire princess Latifah kidnapping shows how peculiar emirati influence is. I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing military deployments in the gulf in the distant future. That was the playground of the Raj before independence anyway.

Up and running and functioning. Rostom 2 still nowhere to be seen 🤣😅

People do say that UAE mediated the current Indo Pak ceasefire. So UAE has influence on us. But directly Turkey can't influence us easily and vice versa. We're buying some stuff from Turkey (don't remember what), and of late the Turks are calling for a reset. Erdogan has few friends of value.

Frankly , even during the darkest days of our existence as an independent republic in the period between 1989-2000 beginning with the Kashmir insurgency breaking out in addition to the one in Punjab , various secessionist movements in the NE , the Maoist problem among other national & international issues we were grappling with but more to the point here , in the midst of bankruptcy during PM Chandrashekhar's brief reign when Yashwant Sinha was the Finance Minister & we had to mortgage our sovereign gold then with enough Forex to last barely 3 weeks , we didn't face such exigencies.

Sometimes we don't appreciate our political class & our bureaucracy enough for since that humiliating event we've never gone to international bodies for a loan in deep desperation to tide over a crisis ever again unlike many in our immediate neighborhood & I'm not just referring to Paxtan here .
