Islamic Republic of Iran Army : News, Updates , Discussions & Analysis

frankly Israelis are brutal in pursuing their enemies. They have balls to hit them in their own country. I bet by the time trump leaves we shouldnt be surprised if there is a air raid or a skirmish.

In India we let the culprits in Isro espionage go scot free.
Yeas, their determination is unparalleled.

By the way I didn't get what you are saying about ISRO.

espionage case which sabotaged the Indias cryogenic project.
"Actually their target was ISRO and they succeeded in preventing the country from developing the cryogenic engine," Narayanan, who was Project Director of Cryogenic Engine when he was implicated in the case, said.

Pretty impressive. Not to belittle them but the Iranians have followed a similar model to the Chinese. They have heavily invested in Anti-ship missiles and Surface to air system and basically copied the s300,s200 series same with their anti ship missiles and ballistic missiles where they have copied the Chinese missiles. Capabilities are questionable for most of their systems. But bavar 373 is their most advance system. Their drones have decent capabilities too. The result is their conventional capability is non-existent but they are extremely dangerous in an assymetric warfare scenario..
We meed to do something similar by investing in producing more variety of anti-ship missiles, tactical ballistic missiles, SAMs,submarines and Drones. The investment ceiling is much lower and India needs area denial more than anything now...

we need to fail fast instead of wasting time in perfection. More iterations will make the product battle field worthy rather than a weapon which is in design for 20 years. Iranians need the weapons hence they churn it out fast, how much capable they are is a different question altogether. some thing is better than nothing. In fact if we had the ability to reverse engineer 50% of the weapon systems we bought in less time than we would be better placed equipment wise.

We can easily reverse engineer if the intent is there. It's nothing related to capability. Sadly defense and national security are not a priority in this country..

Because the culprit was foreigners.
It was our own people and their petty politics

They will have to test what they make in Yemen and Syria, especially Syria, since the Iranians are getting bombed to bits there.

If India can make ELINT satellites to detect Radars , so can USA

Then it is just a question of a SLAM -ER
Missile fired by F 15s

Followed by Tomahawks 🤣

This is a very complicated game. Although ELINT sats can detect radars, it's not at the level where you can employ weapons against it. You will have to generate weapons quality track through other means. By then the battery would have relocated thereby complicating the kill chain.

Since modern SAMs are highly mobile, the situation has evolved to such an extent that the aircraft performing the detection and tracking of the SAM battery should also have the ability to engage it. 4th gen aircraft are incapable of doing that. While also having to deal with enemy fighter jets.

Only three fighter jets are capable of doing it today, the F-22, F-35 and Rafale. All other fighter jets merely employ 4th gen tactics, where they fly around the battlespace, outside known SAM operating zones, while carrying ARMs. In case they detect a radar they do not recognise, they try to engage it with ARMs outside the range of the SAM and pray it hits. So success and failure depends primarily on the training of the SAM crew. Rinse and repeat. If you have enough numbers of jets and ARMs, you will eventually find some reasonable measure of success.

4th gen tactics are becoming increasingly irrelevant because SAMs are now capable of even shooting down those ARMs. Also, when 4th gen SEAD/DEAD tactics were employed, SAMs needed a lot of time from detection to launching its missiles, there were a lot of human and automated steps during the process. The Patriot PAC-3 took as much as 4 minutes. Now it's much lesser than a minute, with a lot to the entire process becoming fully automated, with only permission being the only human step involved. Even missile reaction times have decreased from 20 seconds on the Patriot PAC-3 to 14 seconds for the Akash Mk1, possibly 10 seconds or below for the Mk1-S, 10 seconds for the S-400 and just 2-3 seconds for the S-500.

We have no idea where Iran is, until they attempt to export it or operate it in Syria against Israeli jets, at least their F-16s and F-15s in case the F-35 is beyond their ability to handle. But I doubt merely firing a SLAM-ER at their air defences will do the trick. We should make the assumption that 4th gen tactics cannot be used against the latest Iranian air defences.

The Iranian authorities announced the commissioning of a new underground base Oghab 44 of the Iranian Air Force. The air base, located underground, can accommodate various types of military aircraft, the video shows one of 70 American-made F-4 Phantom fighters of the Iranian Air Force. The air base is divided into several sectors: a command post, a combat alert zone, aircraft hangars, a repair and technical center, fuel storage facilities, rooms with navigation and airfield equipment. The reason why the base is built underground is the high probability of Israeli strikes against important Iranian ground targets. The Oghab 44 air base is not the first facility of its kind in Iran, earlier the Iranian Air Force disclosed information about the underground UAV base, called Drone Base 313.
