Internal Counter-Terror Ops by Indian Security Forces and NIA : News and Updates

Isn't this a tribal Christian bunch of separatists?
Yes, broadly speaking.
The militancy took root in Tripura with the massive migration of Bengalis during 1971.

Some militant groups took help from West Bengal's naxals, ironic how the Bengalis aided and abetted the murder of their own. Aren't the Bengalis intellectuals or something ? WTF happened ?

Some other groups like the NLFT took help(both financial and weapons) from the Baptist Church of Tripura, which in turn was being funded from abroad with the highest funding coming from New Zealand. Soon enough they started killing people. Kidnapping, rape etc became the primary tools used to convert people to Christianity.

That back fired big time. You see the thing with our people is that being sort of segregated from the rest of the country we are a very tightly knit community. Irrespective of tribe, ethnicity, language or religion. It was unacceptable to our people across all social divides that we now have our own people killing our own people for some foreign ideology. Hinduism and Buddhism exited in our lands since time immemorial, we never had Hindus killing Buddhists in an attempt to convert them or vice-versa.

The elders of all tribes pretty much instructed their tribesmen to avoid Christianity. The elders aren't elected representatives of our people, but in our society they are highly respected. That instruction right there killed the missionary's dreams of a mega soul harvest.

The state govt. formed a paramilitary unit to deal with the militants. The first few years were rough, then the TSR gained an advantage. By early 1990s the miitants had their back bones broken and within the next decade many groups went extinct.

That brings us to present day. NLFT, IPFT, ATTF are all that's left today. ATTF is dead by the looks of it. All these groups want today is political legitimacy. Not a separate nation, that's out of the window. They all want their own parties, problem is nobody votes for them largely due to their own history of violence. IPFT want to break Tripura and form a new state for the Tripuri tribe. Everybody including the Tripuris laugh at them. We are a small state with little resources, how is dividing the state going to help our people ? Bloody idiots they are.

What you are witnessing here is a mop up operation to kill off the vestiges of the militants. By bringing them to the mainstream. The process can be accelerated if the govt.(both state and centre) can kick off an industry here. Any industry would do.

Accused Alam Ansari is from Nepal, police have said.

Fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s name has reportedly cropped up in connection to an international fake Indian currency notes (FICN) ring busted by Special Cell of the Delhi Police on Saturday.

The police claimed to have recovered fine-quality fake Indian currency notes amounting to Rs 5.50 lakh in denominations of Rs 2,000 and arrested Nepal national Alam Ansari, a key supplier.

Ansari reportedly told interrogators that the three people who handed him the consignment in Nepal said it was sent by Dawood Ibrahim from Pakistan.

ROUTED FROM PAKISTAN VIA NEPAL

The FICNs were being routed from Pakistan via Nepal, and circulated in Delhi-NCR, Bihar and other parts of India, the police have said.

Raxaul in Bihar, along the Indo-Nepal border, was used to smuggle in the FICNs, Ansari told interrogators.

HOW WAS THE FICN RING BUSTED

The Special Cell received a tip-off around four months back about FICNs being smuggled into India from Pakistan through Nepal by an international syndicate.

Sources were activated, surveillance mounted on members of the syndicate and intelligence collected.

On August 24, police received specific information that a Nepal national named Aslam Ansari, a key member of the syndicate, would reach Delhi at Nehru Place bus terminal around 2 pm to deliver a big consignment of FICN to a contact.

A trap was laid and Ansari was held with 275 high-quality FICNs in denominations of Rs 2,000, amounting to Rs 5.50 lakh.

THE NEPAL CONNECTION

Interrogation revealed that Ansari used to receive FICNs from three men, namely Abdul Rehman, Sajjad and Sher Mohammad all Nepal nationals.

Ansari further supplied FICNs in India through other members of this syndicate, who are residents of Raxaul.

He has been in this business for five years and his syndicate has supplied FICNs amounting to Rs 1 crore in the last one year, police said.

FAKE NOTES IN CIRCULATION

After demonetisation in 2016, there was a pause in the circulation of FICNs from Pakistan, but since last year, many such syndicates have again started smuggling and circulating fake notes in India.

Initially, these FICNs were pumped into India from Bangladesh through Malda in West Bengal, but now they are reportedly being smuggled into India from Pakistan via Nepal.

All the recovered FICNs are of such fine quality that it is difficult for the naked eye to make the distinction. These fake notes have almost similar security features, i.e. fine paper quality, colour, security thread, watermarks etc.
