Internal Counter-Terror Ops by Indian Security Forces and NIA : News and Updates

Nepal is lucrative as an operations base against India because of the free movement of people. Much like Sri Lanka they often lack capability to fight off the threat themselves. But unlike SL they try harder. We need to enhance CT/CI capabilities of Nepal, that alone will go a long way in enhancing their and our citizen's safety.

But I suppose it is a difficult task when Nepal's political leadership is anti-India.
Nepal is a Hindu Country and despite that we aren't being able to influence them. Wow

US and Russia are Christian countries. So what happened there ? How come they aren't besties ?

Religion alone is not a driver of choices, especially in countries/societies where religion is not a primary driver of reasoning and decision making.

We do have immense influence in Nepal. That's why we can carry out those bag-and-drag ops on the suspected parties with the Nepalese military's help. There has been many instances of Indian intelligence arresting Pakistanis in Nepal and bringing them back to India. We can do this because we have an influence.

Its not just military or CI/CT, many of the steps taken by the Nepalese govt. borrows out of our books. So many of their people work/live here too. India is doing a lot of re-building after that 2015 earthquake. We have plenty of influence as is, just have to remember to refrain from doing blockades and stuff.

Our problems, whatever we have, is with the Nepalese govt, not their people. As long as we keep our "punishments" limited to the govt. and "rewards" spread out through the people, we will do just fine. Nepal didn't sign the extradition treaty with the Chinese, that alone makes them a lot better parttner than SL who handed over a port to China.

"As far as the Indian security scenerio is concerned, the current government is keen to take hard decisions which have been pending for a very long time. In the first year of its second term, we have already seen Article 370 revoked and Jammu and Kashmir state has been bifurcated into two," he told the 9th CII Industry Defence Linkage: "Indigenization in Defence Sector." Kolkata: The Narendra Modi government is next likely to take a 'hard decision,' similar to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, to end the Left Wing Extremism in its second term as part of its aim to solve internal conflicts of the country.

General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan indicated this on Saturday.

"As far as the Indian security scenerio is concerned, the current government is keen to take hard decisions which have been pending for a very long time. In the first year of its second term, we have already seen Article 370 revoked and Jammu and Kashmir state has been bifurcated into two," he told the 9th CII Industry Defence Linkage: "Indigenization in Defence Sector."

Lt Gen Chauhan elaborated, "The government is keen to conclude the talks with the Nagas which have been going on for a long time. They are primarily assessing its impact on Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur before taking a call on this. Yesterday you have seen the CAB has been passed despite reservations expressed by couple of North Eastern states."

He added, "It would not be hard to guess that some hard decisions in respect of the LWE may also be on the card after this. So the internal security environment is a very challenging one."

The Eastern Army Commander, however, observed that the present economic scenario has been opposite to the high-cost defence expenditures for modernisation of the armed forces.

"Although the present state of the economy does not look very bright to undertake any high-end defence expenditure, the government, however, have to provide funds both for modernisation and sustenance of the army," he said.

Lt Gen Chauhan informed that the Eastern Command's focus areas of procurement would be met by the special budget under the Army Commander's Special Financial Powers.

The list of requirements would cover night sighting capability, areial and ground surveillance platforms, commanders' surveillance capabilities, army aviation, mobility enhancement, communication equipment, he underlined.

Four convicted for 2008 Jaipur bomb blasts that killed 71 people, one accused acquitted
A special court in Jaipur, on Wednesday, convicted four accused in the Jaipur bomb blast case that hit the pink city in 2008. The accused have been convicted under different sections, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. One other accused, however, has been acquitted by the court. The incident led to the killing of 71 people in a series of blasts at eight places in the city on May 13, 2008. As many as 183 people were also injured in the incident. Out of those injured, two had later succumbed to injuries.

A thorough investigation had led the authorities into the identification of the accused who have been identified as Shahbaz Hussain- who sent an email about the blast, Mohammad Saif and Md Sarwar Azmi - who put the bomb in place at Manak Chowk and Hanuman temple respectively, Saiffurrehman - who put the bomb at Bari Choupar and Salman who put the bomb at the Sanganeri gate of the Hanuman temple. Mohammad Saif, Salman, Md Sarwar Azmi and Saiffurehman have been convicted in connection with the court today. Shahbaz Hussain was acquitted after being given the benefit of the doubt.

However, three other accused, namely Sajid Bada, Md Khalid and Sharan alias Manik are absconding right now. Additionally, a few of the accused - Aariz alias Junaid, Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi and Ahmad Siddi alias Yasin Bhatkal - are lodged in the Tihar jail right now. Two accused - Md Atif alias Mamu and Sajid Chota have also died over the due course of time.

Today’s judgement has come after the examination of 1293 witnesses. The verdict against those lodged in the Tihar jail has not been given out. Moreover, it is anticipated that the decision against the three absconding would only come after their arrest.

Why was one accused acquitted?
Shahbaaz Hussain was one of the accused in the Jaipur bomb blast case. However, he was acquitted as, according to Hussain’s lawyer, Suresh Vyas, the prosecutor had failed to prove the charges, that included sending an email and taking responsibility for the blasts, against him. Therefore, the court let him go because of the benefit of the doubt. for lack of evidence.

The bombings had shocked the nation and attracted widespread criticism from across the world. It was reported that there was another bomb that the teams were able to diffuse in time, thus saving several lives. This was the first time that terrorists ever targetted Jaipur.

SC Grants Interim Bail to 'Misguided' Muslim Youth Convicted of Karnataka Church Blast

Izher Baig, along with seven others, was handed out life term by the Karnataka HC under charge of waging a war against India and creating religious disharmony after being held guilty of carrying out serial blasts in the state between June and July 2000.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has released on interim bail a Karnataka church blast case convict, who was dubbed by the high court as a misguided Muslim youth indulging in anti-national activity.

Izher Baig, along with seven others, was handed out life term by the Karnataka High Court under charge of waging a war against India and creating religious disharmony after being held guilty of carrying out serial blasts in the state between June and July 2000.

While the HC maintained that life imprisonment to such accused should be an eye-opener to misguided elements in the society, the Supreme Court bench led by Justice Deepak Gupta has granted bail to Baig for one month after noting that “a balance has to be struck between the seriousness of the crime and the rights of the accused”.

It further took into account the fact that Baig has already been behind bars for more than 19 years. “He has a mother who is more than 70 years old and according to the medical record, the mother is suffering from various ailments… The appeal cannot be heard now. We, therefore, grant interim bail to the applicant, Izher Baig, for one month only,” stated the court order.

Imposing certain conditions, the bench directed that Baig shall report to the Asifnagar Police Station in Hyderabad every day and shall not leave Hyderabad/Secundarabad without the permission of the court.

The apex court’s order releasing one of the convicts in this case appears lenient in the backdrop of the strong words used by the Karnataka High Court in its December 2014 judgment.

While sentencing eight convicts to life imprisonment, the HC had held that their action in attempting to destroy the social fabric is a heinous crime, which cannot be pardoned.

“It is of utmost importance that a strong message is to be sent to all these misguided, evil minded elements in the society and in particular, the youth of the Muslim community to desist from indulging in any such anti-national activities lest the entire community gets a bad name. This is a country and the State, which equally belongs to all religious denominations,” it had said in the judgment.

The high court had added: “It would send a strong message and act as a deterrent to all fence sitters who have imaginary and fanciful ideas of Islamising the whole of India. Such stringent punishment is the need of the hour in cases of this kind to make such persons to fall in line and be a part of the mainstream of the country.”

recall MARCOS were told to stand down to await NSG arrival. This after MARCOS are trained for similar missions albeit on board ships. And NSG took more than 24 hours to come.

Please read my earlier posts on this forum and the older one. I had always stated that 26/11 was planned in India and executed from Pakistan. Who was the person in HM who changed the coordinates of the ship which sailed with tangos and under who's intructions? Was it not the reason that Col. Purohit was lifted up and declared a traitor? he had full knowledge of this game and reported about it.
none whatsoever.

MARCOS had contained the guys in Taj in a small area when they were told to vacate and move to other hotel awaiting NSG. It was clearly a game to let these tangos kill as many as possible and delay the sieze to create the bogey of Hindu terror. Every Hindu must go and bow to the statue of Tukaram Omble who was a retired soldier from IA and reemployed as a constable in Mumbai Police for taking a full magazine of AK-47 in his body and catching Kasab alive.
In the scheme of things of the planners of 26/11 in delhi, they never factored MARCOS and only thought of NSG as the counter. The call from CS of Maharashtra to IN changed the whole game plan. They realised that their plot is going to go heywire with MARCOS responding so fast. That was the reason that the moment MARCOS established contact with these tangos, they were told to stand down.

Security forces arrested an Iranian national allegedly living in India under the garb of a Buddhist monk for years, on Saturday late evening. He was arrested while attempting to cross over to Nepal without valid documents at the Indo-Nepal border in East Champaran district of Bihar.

The arrested man has been identified as one Hamed Akbari, a resident of Rajakan area of Tehran, the capital of Iran, said AK Pankaj, DSP immigration posted at Raxaul.

“The manner in which he was staying in India since the last 11 years without any visa and had procured UNHRC Card and was giving statements clearly incongruent in nature, it only leads to suspicion of sorts,” said AK Pankaj.

The immigration officials recovered an Iranian passport from the arrested man who was handed over to the local police.

Hamed Akbari had reached Raxaul onboard Bharat Nepal Maitri bus services from Bodh Gaya.

At least 6 foreigners have been arrested in the same area this year before Akbari, most were attempting an escape to Nepal. A Somalian national was the last to be arrested on December 19 while two arrests had been made in the month of August.

New Delhi: Indian intelligence agencies have received information about a few Jihadist groups in Kerala, which have been receiving fundings from Gulf countries like Turkey and Dubai. Officials in intelligence agencies told Zee News that a person, associated with the Jihadist organisation, visited Dubai between September 9-19 where funding of Rs 40 lakh was offered to him.

Not only this, on October 1, members of another jihadist organization met some people from Turkey in Qatar, where funding to their and like-minded jihadist groups was assured.

Acting on the reports, the Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a detailed report from the intelligence agencies on funding from jihadi groups of India from the Gulf countries. The ministry has asked the agencies to produce details on the funding amount and names of the countries it received from, in the last few months.

In the last few years several youngsters from Kerala have joined the international terror group ISIS.

How Pakistan funds terror groups in India

Several terror groups active in India receive funds from abroad, notably Pakistan. Terror groups active in Jammu and Kashmir have their training camps and fund raising campaigns in Pakistan. These terror groups also recieve active patronage, arms and ammuntion from Pakistani armed forces and its intelligence agency (Inter-Services Intelligence) ISI.

Pakistani groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was founded by Hafiz Saeed, Abdullah Azzam and Zafar Iqbal in 1987 after receiving funds from slain terror fountainhead with Osama bin Laden of al-Qaeda, has been repeatedly carrying out strikes in India. Headquartered in Muridke, near Lahore, LeT terrorists have attacked the Indian Parliament on December 13, 2001, carried out the dastardly November 2008 Mumbai attacks (also known as 26/11 attacks) and the February 14, 2019, Pulwama attack on a convoy of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Pakistan has also been trying to reignite Khalistani terror groups in Punjab. Some terror groups active in the Northeast too receive funds from aboard as well as have their training camps in the countries bordering India.
