India will continue to have edge over China in aircraft carriers. In a recent interview, Indian navy chief stated that as long as the the capability induction plans fructify, India will continue to have edge over China. That was a lot confidence. Indian navy is currently operating one AC "INS Vikramaditya" with 45,400 ton displacement and PLAN operates one AC "Liaoning" with 65,000 displacement and another is undergoing sea trial, another one is under construction. India is, according to Indian navy chief , doing capability assessment for building IAC-2 and IAC-1 is expected to start its sea trial in 2020.

Depends who is handling the security. We had an edge over the Chinese in 1962 the result is, Aksai Chin given to China, Prt of Himachal given to China, part of Uttarakhand given to China, Arunachal now a disputed territory for them, many soldiers died, because a Defence minister from a particular region did not give damn about people of Himalayas in India. He let them die in the hands of chinese.

Cochin incident is a hugely embarassing affair. I would not be surprised even if Americans or Russians are behind that too.
The qualitative advantage can only be maintained if Navy inducts aircraft carriers regularly over a period of time. However with financial squeeze we are prioritizing sub fleet over AC.
