Indian Missiles and Munitions Discussion

Here's some pics from an Agni-5's test in late 2022. Similar plume was seen in night sky. The launch video from that test showed nothing special, just a regular MaRV like the A5 always had.

Ah, this is during the late boost phase, its flying at the edge of space, due to very thin atmosphere the plumes of exhaust spreading out in that pattern.

We can't tell what is the payload (MARV/MIRV Bus /HGV) from these pics.

I really wish we test a Bunker Buster AGNI Missile ie 10 TON Or Even 5 TON Conventional Warhead on AGNI 3 /4/5 ie whichever missile can carry such a Heavy Bomb

A 10 TON Bomb on GHQ Rawalpindi would bring lasting peace in South Asia

Useless weapon, Big , slow & easy to intercept..... A stealth bomber carrying a 10 ton bunker buster is much more practical.

Before deploying such a bunker buster we will need SEAD and DEAD attacks

And you can have only a 1 Ton Glide Bomb from Stand off Ranges as long as Enemy SAMs are operational

The Russian Heaviest Stand off Weapon is 3 Ton Bomb carried on SU 34 with 50 km Range

US used its Heavy Bunker Busters GBU 57 on Iran only after DEAD attacks

Disagree with the easy and slow aspects. It has its utility. I have no comments on the bomber bit. The missile would present a new challenge to counter and can present itself as an ace level vector if needed when climbing the escalation ladder during conflict. Post adequate DEAD, its a good thing to have in inventory.

A 5+ tons warhead coming down from space following a steep trajectory
is slow? Is easy to intercept?
Yes.... For such a big conventional warhead to hit accurately it has no other option other than to slow down considerably. It can work if enemy air defence is s**t..... But if it isn't you would need such missiles in huge number fired in Salvo to saturate enemy defences.

In due time, we need to make a larger manned version of Ghatak drone as our stealth-bomber carrying super-heavy bunker-busters. I also think that using ICBMs for bunker-buster roles won't be very logical.

ICBM ones makes no sense. However, SRBM or MRBM is something to look at. It is something that can be developed and inducted if needed. Presents itself as a good conventional option as I stated in my post. Also, we can look at a much more realistic development to deployment time for it. It can be fielded by the next decade if needed.
