Are there any statistical estimates of Bangladeshi immigration to India, and how this immigration is managed?
(Edit: I remember reading that by 2050 (or was it 2100?) India would be ahead of Indonesia in terms of Muslim population)
None whatsoever just estimates ranging from 30-50 million. The border themselves are porous & can't be hermetically sealed pretty much like all borders .
To add to the problems , there's corruption sheer apathy & active collusion with political parties beginning with the Congress & later the Communists to now the criminal TMC which is in power who've not only facilitated this infiltration but also regularised it by assisting them with Indian documentation thereby making them Indian citizens cultivating them for their votes much like how the Democrats in the US slyly aid illegal immigration.
It's a long tortured history which can't be summarised here , where apart from other factors British colonialism played its part . It's the same story with the Rohingyas in Myanmar. There used to be a small native Muslim population there in the Arakans before the British having colonised Burma brought in Bengali Muslim settlers in droves & settled them there from the mid to late 19th century onwards , where they inter mixed with the local Muslims there which renders it impossible to decide who's local & not . The Burmese themselves have refused to accept them as citizens of Burma since their Independence.
It's much the same in the state of Assam in North East India where now these Muslim settlers amount to some 40% of the population. Within a decade or 2 they'd outnumber the locals there & things will explode. Assam has already seen much violence on this issue in the past . The can has been kicked so far down the road that we're fast reaching the point where there's no road left.
Couple that with what's happening in Bangladesh , the fact it shares a border with our NE & the Arakan state of Burma , Bangladesh's slow drift towards Islamism where the most organised party there is the Jamaat e Islami a hardline Islamic party & you can imagine the developing situation there.
It has the potential to tear the entire Indian sub continent apart .
