I would guess it is for an independent operator in charge of deploying the bridge. This operator has fine control of the mechanism to position the bridge. It may have other uses as well, perhaps by assisting loading the bridge onto the chassis.

Interesting. they are going to pitch it to the navy too. A lot of our patrol boats use the OFB's Medak naval gun which is essentially a re-badged Shipunov 2A42 of the BMP. This could serve as a good replacement and a good upgrade from the 30mm to 40mm.
