Afganistan - Pakistan Conflict

Soviet equipment was extremely rugged and meant to be serviced in the field by semi literate grunts under the supervision of Starshinas. Its this pool of men from the CIS states who is helping them keep these items serviceable.

Talibs had this inventory and no target to lob it on - until recently.

And no, no country in its right mind will help Taliban with missile tech right now. Its NOT worth the heat. The best India can / will do is - non military aid (medical, road, telecom, infra). Talibs are flush with US gear and unless you want to give them MBTs, ATGMs or helis they are not really interested.

One angle that is highly likely is Taliban fielding drones in large numbers. But again it will be via the grey market. Unkil has made it very clear to everyone - no long range capability for Talibs. Chinese and Russians have very convincing reasons to not provide any capability to armed Islamic theological groups.

Pakistan and Afghanistan's Taliban government have agreed to an "immediate ceasefire" after more than a week of deadly fighting.

The foreign ministry of Qatar, which mediated talks alongside Turkey, said both sides had agreed to establish "mechanisms to consolidate lasting peace and stability".

Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban, said ending "hostile actions" was "important", while Pakistan's foreign minister called the agreement the "first step in the right direction".

Both sides claim to have inflicted heavy casualties during the clashes, the worst fighting since the Taliban returned to power in 2021.

Islamabad has long accused the Taliban of harbouring armed groups which carry out attacks in Pakistan, which it denies.

Clashes intensified along the 1,600-mile (2,574 km) mountainous border that the two countries share after the Taliban accused Pakistan of carrying out attacks on the Afghan capital Kabul.

Rumours had circulated that the blasts in Kabul were a targeted attack on Noor Wali Mehsud, the leader of Pakistan's Taliban. In response, the group released an unverified voice note from Mehsud saying he was still alive.

In the days that followed, Afghan troops fired on Pakistani border posts, prompting Pakistan to respond with mortar fire and drone strikes.

At least 17 Afghan civilians have been killed and hundreds more wounded, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said on Thursday.

A temporary truce was declared on Wednesday night as delegations met in Doha, but cross-border strikes continued.

On Friday, the Taliban said Pakistan had carried out an air strike which killed eight, including three local cricket players.

Under the new agreement, the Taliban said it would not "support groups carrying out attacks against the Government of Pakistan", while both sides agreed to refrain from targeting each other's security forces, civilians or critical infrastructure.

Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said the latest ceasefire meant "terrorism from Afghanistan on Pakistan's soil will be stopped immediately", with the two sides set to meet in Istanbul for further talks next week.

Pakistan was a major backer of the Taliban after its ouster in 2001 following a US-led invasion.

But relations deteriorated after Islamabad accused the group of providing a safe haven to the Pakistan Taliban, which has launched an armed insurgence against government forces.

What Taliban need is FPV drones in large numbers and India is capable of supplying that. With limited range (less than 20km), they are a perfect weapon for a force like Taliban and won't raise any eyebrows in any allied states. One of the main reasons for Syrian rebels victory was the extensive use of FPV drones (supplied by turkey and Ukraine) which destroyed Syrian armoured units. With FPV drones, taliban can easily destroy the fortified positions built up by Pakistan FC along the border and it will give more freedom of movement for TTP. It's a cheap force Equalizer and small Taliban units can cause heavy damages to static Pakistani fortified positions.

Time to collaborate closely with the Taliban asking them their wish list for arms as well time to restart Operation Sindoor .

Apparently the old agreement not to arm each other's terrorists with a certain class of weapons is collapsing if it hasn't already collapsed. @Jaymax

These operations seem targeted to take out ~ 30 terrorists in the Jammu region.

Our outreach to the Taliban triggered a bad case of IBS. We are seeing the result.

We both know where this downward spiral is going. Both sides know its inevitable. Its only when that remains to be answered.

Are we forgetting the eastern frontier? Turkey and ISI are likely to arm Bangladeshis with such arms too. I don't know what happening in DPUs and DRDO but we seriously need upgraded Whaps , other ICVs etc along with CUAS on eastern front too.

BD is not going to risk it for Pak. Getting flattened from the air while you watch helplessly is not fun.

What PAF is doing in Afghanistan, IAF can do much worse on BD.

Kanglus are getting Sipher AD from Turkey. But we can perhaps play around with them before mauling them by sending our Abhyas drones and other stuff to quickly deplete their missiles. Or maybe use them as a little SEAD DEAD practice. In anyways Turkey arming BD with Sipher is serious and must be countered with. Arm Greece with ground launched Brahmos or perhaps Pralay ballistic missiles. Pralay can become a very potent export weapon to send to our friendly countries to keep our adversaries off balance. It needs to be tested and produced ASAP.

The Indians are a lenient lot. The videos coming from Af-Pak border that are being shared by Taliban are hair raising. This is a pretty toned down version.

Pakistanis are used to Indians as an adversary... Who is decent, respectful logical and follows international laws....Now they have got into a conflict with an adversary who is more brutal than themselves..... Beheading and mutliating bodies are nothing to talibs.... And this is now a bit painful to Pindiboys... Who cares a damn about logic and laws....

We should be happy that we have a leadership who consider India's interest as paramount..... We can differ with their politics and ideology.... But keeping national interest in forfront... I guess we do not have a doubt ..

Now this moron who thinks world to behave the way he want them....

Wait for 2 more years....

This guy single handedly pushed USA decades back, nobody in the world trusts on the USA,
This guy had to do the basic job,
Support Ukraine heavily at a rate the attrition becomes too high for Russians and they come to negotiation table where both the parties can agree,
Stayed away from the gaza deal, not letting isarel loose to target Qatar, so that it wouldn't created a chain reaction, where no gulf countries would have been looking for othere powers for the security guarantee,
He could have made the asia pacific more stronger instead of traffing them, could have armed the rebel groups to overthrow junta in Myanmar, and would have got closer to the Chinese,

He made USA a joke for what rasicst ideology & and support his crony capitalist friends

True racial issues are growing again in the US, an entire group chat of Republican politicians got leaked where it showed them loving Hitler, condoning rape of Native Americans by Spanish European conquerors and calling blacks as monkeys. This may lead to a flashpoint between ethnicities in the US. @Innominate assuming your Jewish, so many supporters of your president doesn't want your people to exist, how does that make you feel???

Talks in Turkey between Taliban and Pakistan have failed.

Escalations expected any time.

Meanwhile entire Pak cyberspace is creaming themselves hyping up an expected Indian move

@_Anonymous_ - your beloved Wumaos are sending a message (Hangors delayed) to keep India from making a major decision.

All of this ties to the timeline question we were talking about sometime back.
