Ah icic, its like how we used the ISRO scramjet as a pillar to develop our HGV and military scramjet. Makes sense to have a single adaptable system.
Theoretically yes although HVG case is a little different, there is not much difference technically between Agni 2 & modern hgv operation except from design of lower L/D to a much improved higher L/D ratio based design & control guidance law.Ah icic, its like how we used the ISRO scramjet as a pillar to develop our HGV and military scramjet. 175 km for an Anti-AWACs variant is quite low no? It'll most prolly be extended to at least beyond the range of the astra mk3 cause it wont make any sense otherwiseUnknown Origin DRDO STAR (Supersonic TARget) Missile Brochure (My guess Defence Expo 2022 or Aero India 2023)

| Aspect | V-SHORAD (DRDO) | Martlet (UK) |
|---|---|---|
| Developer/Country | Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), India | Thales Air Defence, United Kingdom |
| Primary Role | Very short-range air defense (anti-aircraft, focused on low-altitude threats like drones and helicopters) | Lightweight multirole (air-to-surface, air-to-air, surface-to-air, surface-to-surface; versatile for naval, ground, and aerial platforms) |
| Weight | 20.5 kg | 13 kg |
| Length | 2.00 meters | 1.30 meters |
| Maximum Range | Up to 8 km | Up to 8 km (effective range) |
| Warhead Weight | 2.0 kg (Directed Energy Blast Fragmentation) | 3.0 kg (high-explosive fragmentation with proximity fuse) |
| Guidance System | Infrared homing with integrated miniaturized reaction control system and avionics | Laser beam riding or semi-active laser guidance |
will we still buy VSHORADS? i mean its still needed in large numbers to compliment and replace the igla no?A comparison between V-SHORAD and LMM. It seems IA went for the versatility aspect. The missile was developed from Starburst and has been in operation since 2021 (so quite recent).

I would certainly expect so. There was an order that was placed by the IA. IAF is also expected/planning to buy it.will we still buy VSHORADS? i mean its still needed in large numbers to compliment and replace the igla no?
This likely supersedes the MoU between Thales and BDL for license producing Starstreak in India which is a good thing.A comparison between V-SHORAD and LMM. It seems IA went for the versatility aspect. The missile was developed from Starburst and has been in operation since 2021 (so quite recent).

Jizya payment. Useless procurement.UK signs $468 mln deal to supply India with missiles

New defence deals with India deepen strategic partnership and boosts UK business
A new £350 million deal with India will support hundreds of jobs in Northern Ireland and supply India, a key strategic partner, with air defence missiles and launchers.www.gov.uk
This seems to be more in line with the UK generating job opportunities to be honest. No shade on the missile but that's how it is looking like. This likely supersedes the MoU between Thales and BDL for license producing Starstreak in India which is a good thing.
LMM may have multiple applications but the Brits themselves don't appear to be standardizing on it just yet. They are buying more Javelin ATGMs. The IA certainly won't replace its Iglas, Milan, Spike with LMM.
Jizya payment. Useless procurement.

Our helicopters are flying without ATGM.Jizya payment. Useless procurement.
When we have ULPGM-V3, why buy this? Make a ULPGM-V4 with SAL.
We already have SANT too.
The 8km range is for air to surface variant. Not surface to air launched role.
Half a billion wasted.
This half a billion is the difference between IAF having A330 MMRTs or not.
