Jammu & Kashmir live updates: GOI remove all provisions of Article 370

General Bajwa, from what I have read and seen, does not appear to be a risk taking guy like General Musharraf. It would take lots of guts and reckless bravado to pull off a Musharraf act.

tearing a brand new arsehole into a country makes even the most passive general an aggressive one. Expect bajwa to do something.

You missed the woods for the tree. The context you appear to be deliberately sidestepping is the need to (a) not consult the state assembly on matter of revoking the Article 370 (when the govt itself amended Article 367 to make conference with state legislature mandatory for this revocation) (b) Why did the government not wait for the J&K state legislature to be constituted, before going ahead with the state reorganization.
You know why.. :)

Well the old generation (the one that came before the millenials) gave ourselves a democracy, a constitution, conceived rights of freedom and equallity not known in our parts for a milenium, they dreamed about space and laid the foundation for its exploration, when they could barely make two ends meet. These may not seem outstanding achievements, but they were not easily achieved. Trust me on this, there were societies that took the baby steps to nationhood right along us,but today they would happily give a limb or two to gloat about even half of the things that we achieved.

Millenials have a long way to go and claim to have done anything Meaningful. For a start they can move out of their parents home :)

But the example of Singapore which was just a fishing village and got independence 20 years after India tells are different story about the old generation.

That is false information. The story has been debunked multiple times. The Chief is powerful in Pak but like the Soviet Union no Chief is all powerful. The Punjabi fauj will never accept a Qadiani chief and will veto such an appointment.
So he isnt a Qadiani????i was very surprised too when i read that Bajwa is Ahmadi

Let's not give this old hag too much importance. She claims to have built a reputation on "the basis of good & positive journalism over a period of 40 years " As per the embedded video - as laughable a claim as any.

Let's examine her claim. She was the editor of a film magazine which specialised in yellow journalism speculating on which film star was carrying on with whom. She practically invented page 3 journalism in India and if not was definitely an avid practioner reporting on wannabes of SoBo and their escapades. She also made or tried making a career by being the Jackie Collins of India i.e writing soft core porn , creating a ruckus and thriving on the publicity it got her book laughing all the way to the bank - an art she perfected when editing those film rags.

She got her comeuppance when her *censored* got sued by the late Vinod Mehta where if laws of libel were stricter she'd have to shell out massive payments or endure a long term in jail or both. In the event she was jailed for a day. I didn't follow the case later but if memory served me right, they reached an out of court settlement.

Her knowledge of geopolitical realities would make @Guynextdoor & @BMD seem they're fellows of Rand Corporation Or similar such think tanks.

For the past couple of decades, she's become a has been who still craves the spot light and attendant benefits it brings. Alas! She's been out done by other smarter younger and prettier cookies - an inevitable law of nature for wannabes & has been.

Tch tch...you have no idea what is happening here do you. When Basit was in his 30s he had a big crush on her and he idolized her. In a freaudian slip he assumed she, apart from being hot and beautiful, was also virutous and supported the Kahsmir cause like his ideal woman....tch tch man. Kinda like how Sanjeev Kumar looked at Hema Malini.

His wife is rumoured to be one.

Attached is the notification stating changes in article 367, please let me know where does it says 'it's mandatory to confer with state legislature to revoke 370'? What it did was that it remove hurdle of Constituent assembly which ceased to exists decades ago.

(b) Why did the government not wait for the J&K state legislature to be constituted, before going ahead with the state reorganization.
There was no need, present condition were sufficient to proceed legally and constitutionally. Parliament can legislate on state subjects during President's rule, like they did in Delhi when Kejriwal resigned to become PM and Delhi had President's rule.

Good that you're here. I just stumbled upon Pravin Sawhney's Twitter handle. He sees the present situation of what we've done in J&K as the formalization of China's entry into the J&K dispute. He's also hinting that the formation of Ladakh as an UT is tacit admission by India of China's claims over Ladakh ( as distinct from Aksai Chin) & the whole of AP.

As per him, the Chinese will now demand their pound of flesh for bailing Modi out in Doklam as per what they'd agreed to in the informal summit at Wuhan. The visit by Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar to China for preparations of an informal reciprocatory visit by Xi in October is going to focus solely on the border given Chinese Foreign Ministry statements on an "Early Harvest " agreement on the border.

Your view?

All .... BS.

Modi will be finished if Aksai Chin is settled on. Only trade off I see is the long term settlement of question of Shaksgam Valley, which will be written off to incomplete control of the valley by Mir of Hunza. There is no way Ladakh can be settled with acceptance of Chinese claims over it.
