Off-Topic Chit-Chat

This is the kind of intelligent comment I expect from you- highlighting the article of a prominent BJP politician and ignorantly attacking it as NDTV
He quit the BJP long ago. I don't expect you to know that. Also as a media advisor, he effectively killed L. K. Advani's career. Then he was jailed in the cash for votes scam & is currently out on bail.

I wanted to explore the soundness of this statue building business as most of you seem to be in favor of this citing jobs and tourism that will be delivered as the states plan to invest close to 9000 cr for these three gigantic statues. So what exactly are the numbers, do we have any estimates of break even period for such investment, is this the best utilization of the state funds?
Take the case of Maharashtra's shivaji statue to honor Shivaji; Actual forts built/rebuilt by Shiviaji Maharaj's own guidance like Pratapgad, Sindhudurg, Raigad, even the pune's Sinhgad and shanivar wada lie in ruined state, all the while we want to built new monuments, When the ones which have ample historical value lie in ruins. Instead of spending money to fix heritage sights which have actual significance, and can surpass tourism value of the made in china monuments, wouldn't it serve the states better to fix it's existing tourism infrastructure.

And this is discounting for the fact that state like UP has massive mismanagement, children die in hospitals for lack of oxygen, while the CM appropriates the decision to build a Lord Rama's statue? Isn't there anything else left to do in the state, are all the metrics for development already exhausted in growth that such avenues of investment of tax payer funds need to be undertaken?

Which world are you guys in? You're talking about Pakistanis here. They'd get the bomb even if it meant eating grass. Gas is the least of their worries. They've already shifted to wood, charcoal & dung. Besides most of them are too gassy as it is.Don't believe me.Go to PDF.All they need to do is attach a hose in the right place. That's one of the reasons they're not too interested in the TAPI pipeline or the IP pipeline. This isnt likely to affect them. It's all for a noble cause. Kashmir banegaa Pakistan.

Your views, Maamu? @safriz

Statues alone will Not win any election

As Mayawati has seen in the past

If you can perform and deliver and
Then later on , also make a big Statue ,
only then you can talk about it

Right now in India
Nobody is talking of Statue of Unity
In Gujarat , Modi is not being judged for
Statue of Unity

As far as Shivaji' s statue in Maharashtra and
Lord Ram Statue is concerned
The Work has not yet begun

So there is no question of wastage of Money so far

Where did elections come in? What is the advantage in building these statues, especially when heritage sites of much more significance lie i ruins?

But they are sanctioned instead of sanctioning renovating existing sites, or improving infrastructure, education public transport, law enforcement, or even refunding state taxes as incentives.

But Gujarat ranks 17th in literacy rate, has it exhausted all of the metrics for development that it had to build a 3000 cr statue, also given that it's claimed it will generate tourism and jobs, what exactly is break even period for the statue?
