Naval Offshore Patrol Vessels of Indian Navy and Coast Guard : Updates & Discussions

The first of 11 next-generation offshore patrol vessels (NOPVs), Shachi (Yard 1280), was launched at Goa Shipyard Ltd. The ship will augment existing 10 OPVs/ NOPVs for multi-domain operations, such as defence & surveillance, search and rescue, protection of offshore assets, HADR and anti-piracy missions.

What are the counter (air) drone and defence capabilities of the Saryu class?

the saryu class is a much older ship so it only has the 76mm oto melera and 2 ak630s. it has the sanket mk2 and the probably also has some anti torpedo decoy system. saryu might also get the BEl system as an upgrade so not bad.

the new NGOPV has the full anti drone suite from BEL, and the 76mm oto melera and the 2ak630s and even has some spare space for VLSRSAM or a small amount of UVLS in the future if there is a need for these on OPVs.

although wikipedia is not very reliable in defense matters, the article for this class is decent enough to get a good idea.

The kinetic component is quite clear, and in that respect saryu class is quite well armed.

What is not clear is the sensor and fire control aspect.

Shachi-class visible.

Both OPVs still have 76mm SRGM and probably have the MOVE component inside the hulls. Hopefully they can be recovered and brought into service.

I dont see the ICG training vessel.

PS: Allow me to rant - look at the debris, rubbish, randomnly parked vehicles etc ... totally unprofessional look
