So, they did the next best thing. They are hitting the energy infrastructure of west asia irrespective of who owns it. That might not have been in the scenario trump wargamed at this point. Maybe if they had actually utilised venezuelan shale and scaled up the extraction. Iran caught them at right moment.
They drove up the escalation ladder which they were being passive at earlier. Not just US but whole world economics is affected. Lives of people are affected. And US has failed to walk the talk, already showing the lack of planned out post-strike strategies. From frontfoot to being increasingly under pressure from allies and rivals alike.
Let's see how the hegemony saves it's face and inevitable collective effort to sedate it's reckless strategies. From post war Iran to Syria to now Iran.
