Pantsir doesn't brings anything to table, it will be more of burden, the gun doesn't work properly in Pantsir can't even detect & track small drones & low RCS target, in the new variant the gun is being replaced for more missile, now the new variants uses aesa radar, the 57E6/ 57E6-E missiles don't have active radar seekers or IIR seeker, nor the Russians are gonna move the production to India nor we gonna manufacture the 57E6/57E6-E

Kusha will take time for testing, mass production and operational deployment so it makes sense to go with some more S400. But imo, Kusha in several aspects especially in terms of the long range radar will be superior to the S400.
@randomradio @Rajput Lion @babablacksheep from what we know about Kusha how will its radar and kinematic performance compare to the latest version of HQ9? How will it compare to Patriot?
The MRSAMs land based MF-STAR radar already provides much better performance than the S-400s Big Bird search radar. Iirc, max range is 700km+
Plus it provides acquisition and fire control in one compact package.

The choice was always between direct buy and MRFA. I think the IAF decided to buy a more mature F5, something like a 5.3 or more instead of the 2030 vanilla version.
