I believe it was Germany whom the Paxtanis approached for those Sterling Engines for the AIP which the former turned down.
The alternative was always the Chinese make which PN having no other option would've accepted.
That's how those deliveries are being expedited. As far as India's concerned we can either move now & destroy all PAF & PN assets or wait till they're inducted before moving in .
Frankly IMO the former option is the better one.
Pashtuns believe the country of Paxtan is an artificial construct & that the KPK FATA as well as Balochistan provinces of Paxtan are part of Afghanistan.
They also believe that Paxtani Punjab the largest most populous & influential province in Paxtan from which most of their national politicians & political parties spring from as well as sending the largest number of recruits to the Paxtani Army is also their colony as it used to be for a very long time .
Paxtani Punjab also served as the bread basket of Afghanistan when the former was a colony under the Afghans. India's gradually coming around to sharing this PoV.
Besides as maamu @safriz would confirm Paxtani Punjab never self governed except under the Sikhs & the ordinary Punjabi Musalman doesn't like the Sikhs but prefers the Afghans instead .

In ~80 years they've managed to take Paxtan closer to 7th century Arabia under the Prophet Muhammad SAW than it was at any other time in their history. That's not a small achievement as maamu will tell you.
The Taliban in Afghanistan contend the pace of such movement towards the 7th century is rather slow & they can accelerate it manifold as they've demonstrated in Afghanistan. Therefore they ought to be allowed to take over .
We in India wholeheartedly concur with the Taliban as will the Punjabi Musalman eventually. Without the Pashtuns for company the Punjabi Musalman feels lonely & incomplete. They both yearn for each other. For the sake of Allah Talha SWT they must come together. It's our job to facilitate such a union.

Germany, it is. Apparently, Thailand is also buying a similar model with Chinese AIP. Type 039A may not be quite on par with latest Western SSK but it will surely allow PN to replace its older Agosta boats and deploy a sub-surface N capability.

Paxtan then has a very good chance of going down in history as the only Sunni Muslim majority state created by one Shi'a & ended by another one . Incidentally both of them had their roots in India.

It was the germans who withheld the diesel engines to the chinese, and the deal with indonesians broke down i think. AIP was chinese from the start.
Correct. I confused the engine for the AIP. Apparently MTU supplies the engines and SAAB does the AIP. And the other Yuan SSK customer is reportedly Thailand.
