India - United States Relations

US President Donald Trump has doubled down on his claim that India has agreed to restrict its Russian oil purchases. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, the US leader threatened to impose "massive tariffs" on Indian goods unless New Delhi agreed to his terms and halted its purchases.

"I spoke with Prime Minister Modi of India, and he said he's not going to be doing the Russian oil thing," he said, reiterating what he said in the past week.

India last week rejected Trump's claim that he had a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over New Delhi's Russian oil imports. When asked about India's assertion, he replied, "But if they want to say that, then they'll just continue to pay massive tariffs, and they don't want to do that."

The remarks came amid growing US pressure on Russia's trade partners, particularly in the energy sector, which Washington argues indirectly funds Moscow's war effort in Ukraine.

Ok.. now I am really confused if Trump mixed up his Convo with some other leader with Indian.

He is off the rockers lately. Confusing Iran, India. Indian PM history with pakistani..

But then, many "intell

He is giving bytes to hydra now 😂😂..

But jokes apart.. the power table of the world is seeing a seismic shift. I have never seen India being proactively a part of it in the past like it's now. If that isn't a testament to India's growth, nothing can be. And it's not buckling down either!! The things that must be happening in the corridors of Power Hall is just 🤌.

Expect some kind of protest akin to Farmers protest being cooked in the background by usual suspects in near future. Ladakh was an attempt fortunately government was proactive and nipped the bud before it could bloom further.

JESUS CHRIST! This Trump guy is insufferable. Its like watching a clingy girlfriend throw hissy fits. Amusing and annoying at the same time. Are there some adults in the white house!!?? ...... Apparently not.

"You know, MY Modi PROMISSED ME that he is NOT TALKING to Ashley, you know Ashley is a BITCH! Yeah, I make such killer pancakes, why will he go to her? Otherwise he is not getting ANY! And you know, he cannt live without my pancakes!! BTW, he lost his 7 socks while doing laundry! He cannt do one thing right! He NEEEEEEDS MEEEEEEEEE" .... well lady.... Modi and Ashley are making out in the backseat of a 1998 Lada.... with a bucket full of pancakes from McDonalds and socks are in his closet. You dont have what Modi needs. LOL!

Sanctioned Indian Refiner Switches to Rail to Move Oil

Nayara Energy, operator of India’s second-largest refinery, has ramped up its oil deliveries by train as export markets shrink.

Per a Reuters report, the refiner, which is 49% owned by Russia’s Rosneft, has been loading between two and three trains of 50 tanker cars each every day since late August, after in July the European Union slapped individual sanctions on the company for sourcing its crude oil from Russia.

The EU measures aim to further restrict Kremlin oil revenues, much of which now flows via discounted sales to Asia. Following the sanctions, Nayara asked New Delhi for help securing compliant banking channels and shipping for both crude and products.

The sanctions sapped imports of Saudi and Iraqi crude for the Nayara Energy refinery in Vadinar, and decimated the facility’s oil supply in August. Since then, however, it appears that things have started to turn around. Nayara Energy worked with Indian banks to start paying for its supply of Russian crude in rupees rather than sanction-sensitive currencies, and it focused its attention on the domestic market instead of exports.

The company supplies more than 6,500 fuel stations in India, Bloomberg reported recently, and has started selling more to a fellow refiner, Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Nayara Energy has also started loading more crude into floating storage and using tankers under Western sanctions to export its fuels.

The Indian government is helping by providing tanker cars for the shipments and coastal vessels for transport of fuels from Nayara Energy to consumers by sea, Reuters reported today, citing unnamed sources from New Delhi and the company itself. The Modi government, according to these sources, is careful with what and how much help it provides as trade talks with the U.S. continue and the threat of more U.S. action against India remains in the air.

"A senior UK defence official told Guido: “Starmer’s political deal has opened the door for Mauritius to carve up Chagos and allow the Indians to bring a satellite station in almost immediately. I need not remind you what side India has generally been taking in Russia-Ukraine”

This is the best part of the entire thing. If we really took sides properly like the Chinese, I can only imagine the rage that would come out of NATO capitals.

Good decision. After sharam kar shek fiasco around trump.. it only proves the decision taken in regards to this is correct one.

We must not forget that Xi Jinping and Putin have also formally declined to attend the meet.

Domestic politics is just that. Politics for 2029. Their real intentions and direction is laid bare when RG goes to foreign countries to say that " India doesn't see itself as a leader". It's dreadfull to even think of FP of pre-2014. When pak was more fav than sheik hasina

Only their PSUs/Nationally owned companies are stopping directly buying. They are still gonna allow what they called Teapots or small independent private refineries to purchase Russian oil and then white label it and then sell it to their National companies.
Not only their own national companies. This particular product has found its way into the international market and can be bought by other nationals who in turn then route it to their own home states.

I think pm not going to meet orange man in near future out of fear on a possible repeatetion of similar to zelensky Trump 2025 meeting event. And i fear if these two leaders are not sit together infront of a table and sorted out the isdues, there is high likely that US may do mischievous thing in upcoming indo pak war.

With US positioning its naval assets near us, this strategic alliance with Pakistan keeps getting more ominous from our perspective! I won’t be surprised if we see a repeat of US sending its CBG save Pak’s a** if our Navy starts pounding Pakistan..

Not everyone can present their country on platter ( rare earth suitcase) for Me Trump to exploit.

India need not strike Pakistan, merely in deployed state will slowly eat away pak military budget

That’s useless when their budget is a never ending stream of “donations” from different sources… US will sustain this drain in its own interest…
