India - United States Relations

Articles like this one will be pushed to your feed. There will be facts mixed with sources pushing exaggerated narratives from a single side. The latest articles all have Indian freelance journalists doing the heavy lifting for obvious reasons. India's messaging will be diluted in order push a certain perspective as has been the case in the past.

India spends all this money on PR management for its 'vishwa' series when it should actually be studying IW and plugging information leaks in its own ministries. I used to give babus the benefit of doubt earlier. However, the incompetence when it comes to certain IR and IT aspects is staggering. It is like they are living in the dot-com era.
Actually it's the dependence on Google like platforms. I have noticed that these anti media articles stay on feed for weeks while any problem india article doesn't stick even for a day

India relies a fair bit on exports of goods and services to the U.S as can be seen by any statistic pulled from last year.

It is a myopic vision that labelling yourself as a partner on a paper will ensure that you are spared by the domestic policies or politics of any country. The fact of the matter remains that Indian companies have indeed not focused extensively on R&D. The government has policies on paper but has not been able to materialise good results.

People like to point to Jaishankar's visits or PM Modi's bilateral attendance as being too many foreign trips. However, these remain necessary. Please read this piece below and try to understand why diversification of trade has been in focus. How effective this push has been will only be seen in the next couple of years. FTAs take time to bear results for both the parties. Also, the world commerce is not static and there are n competitors in the market.

The results are ambivalent. However, you need to come to terms with them. You need to move forward with better policies and implementations. Less pomp and more tweaking of what is bogging you down.

Outsourcing of IT services is big business in India, earning annual revenues of roughly $120 billion. But in the United States it is undeniably controversial. During his campaign, Trump attacked companies for “flying in cheaper workers from overseas,” in a jab at those using the H-1B route.

Shares in Indian IT groups like Infosys and WIPRO plunged last week after a bill from Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., proposed to more than double the minimum salary for H-1B applicants to $130,000, a level that would price out all but the most senior Indian executives. Lofgren said her approach would ensure the system helped to “create jobs here in America, not replace them.” And while her own bill is unlikely to become law, Indian software businesses appear to be resigned to the fact that Trump will bring in similar measures soon.

EU view, Trump claims victory in stopping pak/in war, Modi said he didn't, Pride is at the base of this too

Yo Pops! The only megalomaniac here is Dolund. No Indian administration will ever allow for external interference in Indo Pak relations.

This is our reddest of red lines & etched in stone. We've two bitter experiences of 1948 where Nehru against better advice went to the UN Internationalising the Kashmir issue as a result giving powers hostile to us - read - Little Britain & the cock eyed 5I's a handle in our internal affairs.

The other one was in 1965 where the Russians brokered peace in Tashkent. Reportedly the pressure exerted on the then PM was too much for him to bear & being a heart patient, had a cardiac arrest dying in Tashkent.

If people here even get a whiff Modi's tolerating US meddling who traditionally have sided with Paxtan on the issue, it's political hara kiri.

There's something else which is hara kiri in Indian politics & that's inflation. Governments have been toppled here at the ballot box for an increase in prices of basic commodities like onions.

That should explain to the ignorant the reason India's adamant about buying Russian oil. There's no great ideology or love for Russia here, it's simple economics.

Trump wants us to dump Russian oil, either he subsidises the difference or he ensures we buy oil from alternative sources at the same prices.

The previous government gave into American pressure under Obummer & gave up Iranian oil buying from alternate sources at extortionate rates. They lost the election & have been in political wilderness for the past 11 years & will remain there for another 4 years when the next election is due.

Makes you wonder who is upto what.

India emerged as Ukraine's largest diesel fuel supplier in July, a report by NaftoRynok, a Ukrainian oil market analytics firm, has claimed.

According to data from NaftoRynok, India supplied 15.5 per cent of Ukraine's diesel fuel imports in July 2025, making it the country's top supplier for the month.
India should stop supplying diesel to them, once they go to spot market they will pay a higher price. They wont complain as it will show them in bad light. I still dont understand why India is buying oil from US, their refineries are not tuned to refine their oil. Let some one else buy and let oil price increase. Our babus & politicians are simply appeasing US , thats reason why we see US thinks we accept their demands.

That would be irrational. We aren't fighting it out with USA. This is Trumps ego and irritation after getting no credit for ceasefire from Indian side.

Let's not burn bridges with USA for one man's egoistical diplomatic blunder. He should've known it wouldn't be acceptable to India.
If pivoting towards BRICS is hedging then buying US oil is also hedging. Keep the bait dangling too. Keeps the leverage with big oil lobby of USA with significant lobby presence in US Congress.

Some cards are meant to be kept safe. If you deploy all of them at once, then that's just giving away the leverage and underutilising a potential card.
And this in case when we have less cards at play. So current strategic silence vis a vis bessent-navarro rhetoric is great cause it just puts them in bad light, both internationally and domestically. Navarro is bordering on sounding desperate now. Most likely he is under pressure from republicans for his absurd handling of sensitive issues, so he is doubling down to provoke some response from India which can take light away from him and reduce some pressure.

More you don't engage that stupid grunt, more desperate he gets and will likely loose support.

An appeals court ruled that most of President Trump's tariffs are illegal — but held off on enforcing the decision until mid-October, given expectations that it will be appealed to the Supreme Court.

The ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in Washington, D.C., focused on the "reciprocal" tariffs Trump imposed in April, as well as separate tariffs on China, Canada and Mexico that the administration put in place citing emergency powers granted under a 1970s-era law.

We haven't actually hit out at navarro and trumps rhetorics yet. I don't know if it's part of calibrated wait and watch stance or missed calculation.

But if they up their tempo of unethical and malicious propoganda.. need to call out currency hypocrisy too.
Our rupees have far less enabling factor for russian military than the dollars and euros that US&EU pays to Russia for their purchases.
Infact rupee-rouble-dirham trade only restricts the liquidity as India doesn't trade with Iran and China in rupees to the extent where they can use it to support Russia.

This whole narrative that we sell to us and buy from Russia leading to dollar in Putin's hand is false. And just narrative for common public.
We buy American-European-other goods from those dollars.
Infact by trading in rupees and most of our exports limited to agri and pharma to Russia, we are infact saving lives that Trump claims to wanna protect.
So while US and EU kills people, india infact helps in saving lives. And this is well documented backed by official data and sources. Unlike dubious sources cited by europe.

India is indeed not engaging in name calling. But fact checking is being done. By our media and PIB too...

But not the currency hypocrisy so far. I haven't seen any major article published , pointing this out yet.

Otoh, there was an article that Russia will invest in producing small electronics in India and buy em. But nothing on ground or official export book so far

Honestly we shouldn't unless we need to. There is no point in wrestling with a pig openly. You will only get dirty more. Let's see where this goes. These tariffs won't last for long anyway, even many Americans including some republican voters are tired of these tariffs Lmao. I know a few Americans online via video games. And some of them are republican voters but they too are now disillusioned with Trump because it is impacting them, apparently their salaries are being cut because their boss has to pay tariffs on stuff they import, so they reduced employee salary by 10-15%.

This tariffs fiasco with India is the ego problem between two friends. Modi said it very clearly he is ready for a personal loss. I am pretty sure this personal loss was friendship with Trump.
Naaah. Most likely Trump saw Modi's hands and compared it to his own and got jealous or may be Milania said something positive about Modi and how he is even "technically single"... never underestimate Trump's insecurities.

Nope, dont fall for such stupid propaganda. Trump might be a monkey but modern states do have mechanism to ensure one person does not run down the system, there is checks & balances. In US there is a senate committee on foreign relations which controls most of the foreign affairs discourse. Its not he can jump tree to tree without any repercussions. None of the senators or congressmen have condemned trump. Just compare with israel. Even the Indian origin monkeys more or less have remained silent.

This is usual good cop & bad cop trick, they will give you nice thrashing and then cajole you to follow their decision.
Trump is just a convenient excuse, democrats & republicans, most of the media were in complete sync on this. They wanted to take advantage of the situation one or the other way. Its just not going their way now , they are just trying to find a way out.

Its not all of a sudden Trump went rogue and everything collapsed, we had a coup in bangladesh as well and then khalistani thing continues unabated. Before that we had programmed farmers protest. Agricultural reforms would make most of the farm imports uncompetitive and US want to export their produce to India. Its not hard to understand who is behind this. They want a servile India minus Modi.

Show this to Nitin Gadkari !! BC he has screwed over entire country with Ethanol Blending and Diesel ban [NCR] !! Wait till he (Gadkari) finds out, he will ask Ukraine to install DPF in all their battle talks and APCs (or will start selling E30 Petrol) citing air pollution!

#End Rant#
His family owns farmland which gives sugarcane for ethanol blending.
