Amit (YouTuber) has made an observation that the UK and US appeared to be interested in testing Indian IACCS and Indian radars against the F-35. However, after the F-35 was successfully tracked and identified by Indian radar, they provided an excuse and proceeded to land in India.

Upon landing in India, all computer systems activated self-destruct protocols to prevent any potential enemy access to the software or threat libraries. Since the fighter jet did not crash and the GPS indicated that it was no longer in a friendly territory, it is now incapable to fly and firmwares needs to be reloaded.

Resident experts @randomradio @Parthu @Rajput Lion how likely is this scenario?

When we see how they struggle against the sole Ukraine, I have no doubt they will be slapped by NATO.
Even with 150 Su-57,
Even without USA.
But it's urgent for west Europe to increase stocks of ammunitions.

They got caught up in a war before they could fully modernize, that's all. Their weapons were just one level above what was used in the Gulf War, suitable for war in 2000+, but not sufficient for 2020+. All their modern weapons are still in development. It's the result of the stagnation they experienced between 1991 and 2010.

India still suffers from 1 lost decade (1991-2000) whereas Russia had 2 lost decades.

India could compensate for the difference with imports from France and Israel, but Russia does not have that option.

The F-35 was in a non-stealthy mode. It was equipped with Lunesburg lens and external AAMs.

Probably routine flight off carrier, emergency prevented a carrier landing and forced a landing in India. That's all. Just bad luck.

The extent of F-22 MLU is becoming more clear:

> New coatings that improve all-aspect (radar, IR) stealth
> HMDS
> AIM-260 JATM integration
> Enhancements to Pilot-Vehicle Interface (new cockpit/new displays?)
> New IRDS to replace old AAR-56 MLD (possibly provides EODAS-like capability)
> Stealthy podded IRST
> New stealthy EW pods (lacks details on what bands it covers)

The sole weakness of F22 (in Air to air) is its short legs.
Probably because it was studied at a time when the war was imagined against USSR and not China.

They seem to be going for Stealthy external fuel tanks.

But what, about conformal tanks on to the aircraft? Stealthy shaping.
Plus it already has more than enough thrust, that wouldn't need an upgrade in thrust with those conformal tanks.
And imo, they will be more stealthy than externally carrying stealthy fuel tanks, because of pylon connection.

Pak couldn't use the F-16 against India this time, There are restrictions in place since the last squabble
They need permission, it probably rules out first strike

You can jettison EFTs prior to entering the area of operations to fully regain stealth profile (even the pylons are jettisoned) & aerodynamics.

CFTs are stuck with you, even after spending all the fuel in transit, you're stuck with them. For an air superiority fighter, it's extra weight & drag you don't need.

Not to mention, developing stealthy CFTs would have likely required retesting the airframe under all flight profiles to see what aerodynamic & RCS effects they have. That would've probably ended up being more expensive, besides all the operational drawbacks.

All things considered, stealthy EFTs were probably the best bet.
