Pakistan fields 155mm capable mobile artillery. Not 130, 122 or 105mm.
While we have an advantage in towed already because we have more 155 and 130mm guns than them. Even our 105 outgun their 122mm systems.
Due to the mobile nature of SPHs, the caliber is a bit less impactful. Even Russia's using Gvozdika quite well in Ukraine, against NATO 155mm.
Abbots would have given us the same advantage as our 105mm field guns.
Yeah, but that's not impressive. ATHOS would have given us capabilities that are currently non-existent in the army. It provides some revolutionary next gen networking capabilities missing on all existing guns, plus the ability to shoot-and-scoot to almost the same level (slow speed, short distance) as the Archer MGS. ATAGS comes the closest, but it naturally doesn't fit into the timeframe. Even its current order of 307 is similar to an advanced LSP due to the focus on increasing indigenization.
Bharat Electronics also expects to receive an order worth approximately Rs 30,000 crore for the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) system. The company is working with the user to finalise the contract and has dedicated a team for this purpose. “QRSAM may be around roughly Rs 30,000 crore… we are the production agency for QRSAM. So order will come to BEL,” Jain said.
He added the order covers combined requirements from the Indian Army and Air Force and may be finalised by the last quarter of the current financial year, though there is a possibility of it slipping into the first quarter of the next financial year.
So, both IA and IAF are going to procure the QRSAM. This is new to me. Most probably to safeguard the S-400 system.

Yes, i think there is some delays because of that. Now they are saying contract FY end or start of next FY.
It was always both army and IAF processing the case. One of the services usually take the lead service role. BEL was consistent all along. Delay was partly due to first the services asking for more input, then upgrades like the satcom and continuous moving map in mfd screens in the vehicles since mobile system and long inter comm almost 10km apart 2 vehicles etc, then considering the work share as well since likely 2 dcpp

VL-SRSAM should also be procured by IAF. Based on Astra frame, it could be even more agile to take out high-speed targets in terminal stage.
that one, we do not know about mobility yet. Maybe point defence? also range factor, MRSAM does 70km so augment/replace what ?
Make sense as IAF is also using OSA-AK system like Army so that will be replaced by QRSAM.
SPYDER substitute for IAF. Plus, thanks to missile basic airframe being same as Astra, the overall cost of per round also would be much lower due to scale of production.
i mean on what truck are they gonna put it ? So far its a fixed canister block suitable for ship and maybe airbase fixed installation. If IAF gets it, no reason for army to not as well.

Because the new platform would have to cover the deficiencies of its predecessors. In feb, these L70 guns hadn't faced real war like situations but now they do. Now they have real & invaluable war-time experience with entire western front heating up. That would mean a new wave of feedback & data generation which would dictate the requirements of their replacement program.
They were essentially just working in the dark before, now they have real data to dictate the requirements of their successor platforms.

And I am talking about the feedback given in 2014, which means the deficiencies were found out during that time and feedback was given, now guess how the deficiencies were found out in 2014.
Btw you missed the last sentence of my reply and this is a QRSAM thread not a L 70 one.
