I have been trying to get people to focus on that- people are more busy on what asset went down! Poonch is an escalation if ever there was one.
The implications of the PL-15E missile shooting down a Rafale from a crap JF-17 is relevant.

The PL-15E isn't even China's latest missile. It's comparable to the AIM120. It's also downgraded for export. Maybe Pakistan got the non export variant. PL-21 is a big threat.

I think it's important to remember the strategic situation. Rafales were meant for China, not Pakistan.

I am not disagreeing with that. However, we will get a lot of time to dissect this later. Right now what matters is driving Pak problem to a closure. What they did in Poonch is dastardly- I don’t see this being any different from what happened in Pahelgam.

Sure, I want India to strike back. I also think it's important to remember that Pakistan is a fly, a nuisance at best. More bandwidth on these idiots is less on core strategic priorities facing India. India is a big big big country.

This is where I have a problem. We always back down when we should be going up a notch! “Befitting reply” would have been turning saragodha to dust in response to Poonch. Make Pak believe that for every action, we are prepared to climb the escalation ladder. That poses the real question for them - do they want to compete under those conditions?

Sadly this is true.

Any normal airforce would run SEAD missions before attempting a hit in a hot airspace.

We on the other hand are fighting terrorists not Pakistan - BC they are the same !!!!!!
Yes ..correct .pilot from US airforce would have gone to revolt rather than performing this mission

It's a j-10 not jf-17. We have no proof if it was pl-15. It could very well be a crash due to human or technical error.

Fair, we have seen debris of PL-15 in India. So that's why I lean that way.

Perhaps 4th gen pilots, I think B-2, B-21, F-35, F-22 is made for this kind of mission. The no Growler support type missions.

My friend made a good point. The majority of the USAF is still 4th gen aircraft and will be for a long while so even he is highly concerned with the implications. I'll have more from his Asian think tank friend soon.

People here don't understand that rafales can be bought again lives can't. It is not over, neither it is some game. There were news on SM that Pakistan has mobilized it full armor division.

IAF will be scrambling even now and Navy is on standby, people need to be vigil this is a war now. The assessment can be done later.

We have claims going that a su-30mki dodged 8 pl-15's. So right now we don't know.

There might be a response from us. Don't just assume it's not happening. Indian government and military are risk averse. They take their time in making decisions. Pakistan is different.
