That road is not viable for supplies during wartime. Even if not under constant attack, it cannot carry the volume of supplies necessary.
The thing about logistics in mountains is you need all the necessary supplies already present. And just to support a division, you need multiple routes for redundancy. That's why aircraft and mules are more important.
Now you wanna support an entire army with just one road while under attack, good luck.
