Brahmos Supersonic Cruise Missile : News, Updates and Discussions

Boast over things you have, not over things you could have.

8 years to indigenize Zircon lol.

As far as our subsonic cruise missile project is concerned, DRDO could have just imported the Russian engine and called it a day. But "they took the path less travelled by, and that has made all the difference".

Finally we succeed(y)

The Zircon is going to be made available to us post 2027-28. Count the development time from there on.

They actually do not give the materials, hence we have to develop those ourselves sometimes like Vikrant steel grade. Now for such steel grades it was easier, made here within 2-3 years as our steel industry is quite mature now. Otherwise for high end material, heat shield, sheath etc the gestation period for the materials could be anything from 5 years to 20 years. This is the minimum time you need to even prepare and produce & certify those mil grade material within the country. Then comes the volume part, defense use material, compared to other civilian/normal use material 1:10000 that is. So those materials very few vendors & plants will be interested to make those as cost too high, demand too low.

Yes DRDO labs have got good maturity in making missiles & subsystems now, however for high end hypersonic regime certain factors are still tricky. A missile system usually have a lot of components, like main critical tech you need to fully develop, 10-11 different aspects like navigation, aerodynamics, control, simulation, propulsion, its power source, telemetry, communication, its FCS ground/air/sea launch, if it employs seeker or other guidance system, these you can research academically. Once theory is established, you need to test, for that again you need material, manufacturing, telemetry/tracking system because you are making something that will cut down enemy reaction time by shortening launch to strike time. So you need very good tracking algorithm & test developed because if we intend it to be untrackable by the enemy we ourselves will have hard time to track it in testing & verify. Then there is communication blackout for such systems at very high speed, very hard to establish simulation for that & get a solution.
So all this challenge, if we are to overcome all of it by ourselves it will take huge time (& money), so academic projects and co-study are done with experienced org like Vympel, NPO etc, those who have experience in developing test algo for such. Huge scope of future dual use application for every part of the process.

Drdo is having it's own program for HCM no need to rely on downgraded export version.
Brahmos is a better missile than the Russian counterpart. So there is nothing like that downgraded export version, if you have money you will get the best, provided fake indigenous ego will not intervene.

You made the claim, its easy to prove if you are correct.

Obviously, you make claims and opinions but don't have the patience or will to do due diligence.
So your logic is not working as you trying to advertising , where were the TD tantrum from 2014 to 2021? If it was a TD, DRDO would have declared it from the begining itself. Like swift,HSTDV of DRDO or RLVTD of ISRO.
Do you understand how logic works?
Do you? Its you pointed out that low investment of money means its a TD, not me.

Different kinds of projects like TD existed as long as DRDO existed. Need to have common sense and comprehension ability to understand that.

Show me the proof.
Over the next 70 minutes, the missile navigated its way to 15 pre-designated "way points", using a sophisticated inertial navigation system, which can take assistance from the GPS satellite network. Halfway through the test, the Nirbhay did a pre-programmed U-turn and headed back to Chandipur. After travelling 1,050 km, the test was terminated and the missile splashed into the Bay of Bengal.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) says the missile was monitored throughout its flight, including by an air force aircraft that flew above it.

"The missile maintained an accuracy better than 10m throughout its path and covered a distance of more than 1,000 km. The successful indigenous development will fill a vital gap in the war-fighting capabilities of our armed forces," said DRDO chief Avinash Chander.

Success is a b@sta@rd & failure is an orphan, for seven long years it was Nirbhay, suddenly it became TD in 2021. U need common sense to learn this.

So it never tested for 1500 km yet?

If 1000km is the project requirement why are you asking for more?

You are again showing lack of comprehension ability. Did I say the project is success ?. They choose to go for all indian subsystems instead of completing the project with imported systems.

Actually this TD gimmick is nothing but an excuse to get the funds. ITCM is an TD to test the indigenous engine and sensors but it doesn't mean it cannot be inducted in current form.

You didn't, did i saod that you said like that? What i am saying is Nirbhay wasn't a TD project initially, since they didn't successful in creating it, they started calling it a TD.

Ask yourself, since when we started calling it TD? From 2014 to 21 it was Nirbhay, after 4 complete failure out of 7 test, they started giving new concept on that project.

Why we are struggling with the Cruise missile whereas Pakistan has succeeded in ALCM
And secondly how are they doing fairly well in sectors like cruise missiles , ballistic missile, tank ,small arms etc despite lacking proper iron and steel Industry , automobile, electronic ,and institution like IIT,iisc, drdo ,forging etc

Does they have proper metallurgy industry ,I mean we despite having fairly well developed iron and steel industry only now have started producing warships grade steel and steel lack fairly in many types of steel ....

So how does they have managed to have some sort of parity in missile sector with India despite so many glaring Gap

Because they dont hesitant in taking foreign help. Most of their so called home products are Chinese design.

Developing something from scratch takes time, money and tests our patience. Slowly but surely all our critical projects are witnessing a breakthrough.

We have leap-frogged Pakistanis in every way. Even comparing our great country with a failed terrorist state like Pak is not good, IMO.
