Nine Indian Magsaysay award winners say "clearly divisive" CAA is 'unacceptable'

NEW DELHI: Nine Indian Ramon Magsaysay award recipients issued a statement on Friday saying the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) singles out Muslims, is "clearly divisive" and, therefore "unacceptable".
The signatories are, Aruna Roy, Admiral (retd) Laxminarayan Ramdas, Bezwada Wilson, Rajendra Singh, P. Sainath, Shantha Sinha, TM Krishna, Deep Joshi and Sandeep Pandey.
The statement goes, “We, the Indian recipients of the Magsaysay Award, would like to express our deep sense of concern and anguish at the passing into law, of the Citizenship Amendment Bill – and the linkage of the same with the National Register of Citizens. Both of these are clearly discriminatory and violative of all the guarantees of right to equality before law assured to all persons in the Indian Constitution.”
“In its present form and intent, the Citizenship Amendment Act, together with the proposed NRC all over India, appears to single out one community – namely the Muslims. The act in its present form links religion with the question of citizenship for the first time in our plural, secular democracy, and is clearly divisive and therefore unacceptable."
The statement further said that “the outbreak of public protest and widespread demonstrations – some of them violent, does not augur well. The CAA and the NRC together have fanned the fires of earlier insecurities in Assam, the North East to entire India now – and there is indefinite curfew and also shutting down of internet services in many states of the North East and elsewhere. Students in their thousands are out on the streets – from all accounts with no political party affiliations or pressure.
“As responsible citizens we urge the Prime Minister and the home minister to kindly review the situation in all seriousness and protect the interests of peace, harmony and the well-being of the people of India as well as those desiring to live in this country without any discrimination according to time-honoured tradition of India which was mentioned by Swami Vivekanand in his famous speech at Chicago.We do not understand the need for introducing either CAA or NRC at this point in time, when there are several other urgent issues on hand.”

I don't know where you live but as a Bengali, I know what comes after there are Muslims charging at your trains with rocks and fire.
Therefore, I'm positively gleeful that somewhere, someone in India is actually starting to wake up and giving it back to these jihadi *censored*s. (Not talking about the peaceful ones, specifically the rioting, raping, looting, Direct Action Day type people).

If BJP wants to help its core, it should focus on three items :
driving CAPEX, by Governments Central Budget,
get the Navratna PSU's to employ their huge cash reserves to invest in new ventures
Renew focus on disinvestment, Ircon, Railway units, Coach Mfg's, Shipyards, DPSU's etc.
If the consumption levels out, it will help to get out of the cyclical pains for multiple sectors.

I think its the same Psyche of sadism that i was referring to earlier. Indian Americans and NRI's in Gulf countries are minorities in their respective countries and obviously do undergo some amount of social discrimination and distrust there. Since they cant vent their frustration on their host societies( read white christian and arab muslims). The minorities in India, since they correspond to their hosts exact like in India, become easy target as anchors to hang their frustration. I know this from experience because i have several relatives who work in Gulf countries and US/Canada and its the same vitriol that hear from them.....I suppose this also explains some of the frustrations being expressed by the Hindus against the Muslims. When economic prospects dim and social strife grows, then you need someone other than yourselves to blame.
