Are statements like these part of Indian jujutsu or we are making a hasty mistake?

  • 'Whenever government gives a go ahead signal, Indian Army is ready to take away Pakistan occupied Kashmir,' said General M.M. Naravane

Something tells me this is a symptom of a political unrest in center. Army is getting too eager to please with the shocking headlines like above. Unless this is a part and parcel of a well thought out scheme to keep Pakistan in constant state of boil, I am forced to believe that we are sleep walking into conflicts with haphazard preprations and unplanned moves.

Much ado about nothing. Journalists asked him a loaded question. He responded with if there's something directive by the Government, we'd undertake such an operation. His predecessor may definitely have tried currying favour. But after listening to every tom dick & harry from Pakistan talk about nuking India, this is satisfying. If you've noticed post Balakote, you don't see too many provocative statements from their side. Their bluff has been called & they're aware of it down to the last man.

He is describing the job description!.

Remember the 1994 Parliamentary Resolutionon the same. All political parties unanimously on this.

“This House”
Notes with deep concern Pakistan’s role in imparting training to the terrorists in camps located in Pakistan and Occupied Kashmir, the supply of weapons and funds, assistance in infiltration of trained militants including foreign mercenaries into Jammu and Kashmir with the avowed purpose of creating disorder disharmony and subversion:
Reiterates that the militants trained in Pakistan are indulging in murder, loot and other heinous crimes against the people, taking them hostage and creating an atmosphere of terror;
Condemns strongly the continued support and encouragement Pakistan is extending to subversive and terrorist activities in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir;
Calls upon Pakistan to stop forthwith its support to terrorism, which is in violation of the Simla Agreement and the internationally accepted norms of inter-State conduct and is the root cause of tension between the two countries;
Reiterates that the Indian political and democratic structures and the Constitution provide for firm guarantees for the promotion and protection of human rights of all its citizens;
Regards Pakistan’s anti-India campaign of calumny, and falsehood as unacceptable and deplorable.
Notes with deep concern the highly provocative statements emanating from Pakistan urges Pakistan to refrain from making statements which vitiate the atmosphere and incite public opinion Expresses regret and concern at the pitiable conditions and violations of human rights and denial of democratic freedoms of the people in those areas of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir, which are under the illegal occupation of Pakistan;
On behalf of the People of India,
Firmly declares that:
a) The state of Jammu & Kashmir has been, is and shall be an integral part of India and any attempts to separate it from the rest of the country will be resisted by all necessary means;
b) India has the will and capacity to firmly counter all designs against its unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity;
and demands that –
c) Pakistan must vacate the areas of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir, which they have occupied through aggression;
and resolves that –
d) All attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of India will be met resolutely.
The Resolution was unanimously adopted, Mr. Speaker: The Resolution is unanimously passed.

There is a public pressure on government slowly building up to go for POK, little by little. No one want's it now, but as Doval said, increase your wait and punch proportionately.

And I think our top military brass has to face these type of questions untill we actually capture the POK thanks to the
(not sure wheather needless or not) rhetorics
of our political leadership.

I don't doubt that we should capture PoK, heck I will say drive away all the Pakistan sympathizers out too.
But there is a method to it. That method involves chewing what you have already bitten. Integrate and consolidate erstwhile state of J&K quickly first. Change its demographics. Then pounce on PoK.

I don't think there's much to be read from that. He only made a technically and politically correct statement. If someone asks him about China, he's bound to repeat a similar statement.

Standard statement:
If we get orders: We will take appropriate action.

The army is not going to say If we get the order we will show them Thenga.

Like when FM Sam Manekshaw was given the order he took the appropriate action: The action was advising the PM that it will be foolish to go into EP during Monsoon. So wait for the right time and we will strike.

Also remember Indian Armed Forces are very very conservative especially after 62. In conflict management it's strategic awareness is second to none. It doesn't get into untenable situations. For 65 it fought to its strengths, instead of fighting in Mountains, it ran rolled armor down the plains, In 71 it ran a planned precise war exacting the largest unilateral Surrender sin WWII within a fortnight. In Kargil, It utilized its resources to dismount a well-trneched enemy with precise escalation that the enemy did not anticipate (From the Musharraffs own admission in his book)

Taking POK, means defanging Pakistani Nukes, and it's a missile strength, decimating Pakistani airforce, it's Navy and containing it's Army and exacting a complete surrender. would need a heavy espionage presence within the hostile territory and rapid deployment of our forces. An operation of such magnitude would take a substantial amount of time.

The other route would be facilitating the organic disintegration of Pakistani State, which on the other hand is a much harder feat to achieve.
