Get ~10 C-17 from US Airforce Reserve and decommission all IL-76s.

License produce 40-50 KC-390's to replace An-32s.

A400M or C-2 dont fit the current airforce requirements.

Because of the payload limit of 18 to 30 tonnes?
Yes, it will become very expensive. We need numbers. IAF would also prefer turbofan because of high altitude requirements.

Yeah, US will provide from their reserve. Brilliant opinion.
Yes, They ordered surplus to keep the production line running for more years.

These 10 aircraft would push total USAF buys to 223. That’s 13 more than the original program goal of 210, and far more than the 180 plane fleet the USAF would have had without Congressional intervention [1].

So, whene ever we ask, they will provide, right? May be we can borrow some nuke too, AFAIK they have more nuks in reserve than the entire c17 fleets.

Meanwhile

The second memorandum would see the UAE join a South Korean development program for the next generation of multimission cargo aircraft. Specific signatories included Tareq Al Hosani, secretary general of the Tawazun Council, and Kang Goo-young, CEO of Korea Aerospace Industries.

KAI unveiled the concept aircraft, known as MC-X, last year. The company aims to develop a next-generation multirole transport aircraft that is positioned to bridge the size and capability gap between the Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules and the Airbus A400M.

KAI expects the MC-X to have a maximum takeoff weight of 92 tons and an internal cargo capacity of 30 ton. Preliminary specifications released by the company during the DX Korea exhibition in 2022 show the platform will likely be a twin-engine aircraft with a range of about 4,350 miles, measuring 131 feet long, 44.3 feet tall and 135 feet in wingspan.

Can't kick out IL-76s, until we build our own, we need 2 suppliers. It's a strategic asset. Plus now the USAF is saying they are short of such transports. Plus they are developing a new stealth one. Our best bet is to either upgrade the existing ones or buy the IL-476.

Agreed with the KC-390. The alternative is the Russian IL-276. But IAF's requirements may expand to include C-2 and Korea's MC-X, because we now have this new MGS requirement which could see us buying 30+T artillery guns.

If they are planning to do a study for future capability then I think the cap of 30 ton payload limit will be lifted and make way for A400M as it looks like MTA will not only replace the An-32 but also the Il-76.

It's impossible for the A400M to replace the IL-76 in role. Never mind the payload difference, it lacks a jet engine. Without it, it's gonna do terrible in the Himalayas.

What about using A330 as IL-76 replacement, or buying rights for C17 for complete local production?

No funds for A330. C-17 saga is now a thing of past.
I dont think il76 replacement is an imminent requirements. So, in future a330 may be an affordable option.

When comes to c17, i want a full licence production in India. Not from US reserve. C17 can very well replace all il76s, and act as a common platform for electronic attack, awacs, Maritime survialance, & jstar equivalent (if we planned such things ).
