Attack is likely an expression of hatred and desperation both. Islam is not known for its ability to coexist with other religions. On the other hand, Palestinians had been slowly squeezed by Israel, with Israel taking territory beyond what the UN mandate had given them. Yet even had Israel respected the mandate, Palestinians and other Arabs had made it clear that it is not the borders, but rather the continued existence of Israel, that they have problem with. Hamas at the very least does not want conflict resolution, as permanent state of war allows it to stay in power.
This is not a terrorist attack. This is a coordimated effort to physically defeat the entirety of Israeli forces and 'win' over them. They have succesfully 'surprised' but I think Israel will retaliate 10 is to 1.
terrorists dont hold ground, all those terrorists who have done so in the past like LTTE..etc have lost. They are only good for hit & run attacks.
These are scare attacks to increase fear and stretch the opposing forces to the maximum extent. On the bargaining table they will have more psychological advantage to make more gains.
they would kill some and exchange some for their own. Killing women & children will only become more counterproductive.

Wiping out hamas is not going to solve any thing, they will be just replaced by another bunch. One or other muslim state will support or create another terrorist outfit for geopolitical or internal political gains.

nuke which city ? all the states will feign that they are not supporting any terrorists. More over its not its going to happen overnite , it is a proxy war of attrition. If israel threatens other muslim states they will also clamor for nukes like iran is doing.
In 2021 there was an "eleven day war" where 4000 plus rockets were launched in that period with vast majority of rockets being intercepted Hamas launched between 2-4 thousand rockets in one morning today while at the same time conducting major land, sea and air operations.... I guess what I'm trying to say is no way Israel did not know this was coming.
These are the same folks that have hunt down terrorist all over the world that have killed Israelis that's how good Israeli ISR is.
Israel has been going through a major political fight which has divided the nation while at the same time Iran becomes a bigger threat.
This hamas operation took months in the planning and major logistics to move forces and rockets into place for the attack which should have been easily picked up by Israel. Now you see Israeli political parties united and at the same time they are blaming Iran for this. Israel has the excuse to escalate the conflict to hezbollah and the excuse to strike Iran.
Hold on to your butts this war is about to get biblical.

Correct, the root cause is Israeli political instability. They were distracted. This attack simply destroys left in the political system now.
