I was wondering whether it might be time for a renewal of NATO type organization, to counter Chinese expansion in Southern Asia. I could see the United States, India, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, and the Philippines become an effective force against the Chinese. Does anyone feel that that might be a good or bad thing?

It's a good idea for others.
But India doesn't do alliances to avoid excessive foreign influence in India's foreign policy, which will also affect industry and trade. We have no intention of getting dragged into foreign wars either. Plus we don't plan on having a military so weak that it needs an alliance to work. We can fight China on our own today, never mind 10 or 20 years later.
Deep alliance-like cooperation is always possible during war with China.
