Rafale DH/EH of Indian Air Force : News and Discussions

It also shows the Chinese that the Rafale is capable of doing a 7000 km mission with two SCALPs. For example, to attack Shanghai by following a road that flies only over the oceans.
Only happened if all chinese military assets goes on hibernation.
Rafale cannot do it without mid air refueling and performing mid air refueling over tibet or south china sea is like a suicide.

First time - Rafale had a stop somewhere in middle East base, which is allegedly attacked by iran missile
Second time - On the trip only did some mission over Pakistan according to twitter Warriors.

Both of the above is most likely false.

But then this third time Scalp was loaded.

There is a potential to make good story out of it.

The distance between the last Indian base to Shanghai is not the same distance between Paris and Toulouse... its far greater, And of course there are hostile air defences and planes that will be there to intercept,

If India has to use SCALP against Shanghai -- Theoretically speaking ;
We would need Mid Air Refuelling

How will that happen in South China Sea
Now the moment the Rafales land in Vietnam, China will get air of it, China is well networked in vietnam.
Further going to Shanghai by any other route is just half way ticket, with 100% probablity of being shot down mid-course.
The few possible targets that might be there would be the Southern cities like Beihai, Nanning (Yunnan province) and maybe part of Guangdong province (Guangdong, Shenzhen, Foshan etc) Rather the better way might be to take off from Indian bases, Strike the southern targets and then try to see chances to land in vietnam or to refuel over SCS to bring them back.
Landing in some other country after conducting the attack will also end up dragging that country into conflict.

Thats why we required an in house strategic bomber program.
But cany help, we indians always sees economic feasibility over utility, we lacks vision and long-term planning.

I rather compared it to the distance between St Dizier and St Denis de la Réunion. And as far as threats on the way are concerned, we know how to prepare the mission and use the characteristics of SPECTRA.
Rafale will not be seen and tanker will be seen as civilian aircraft.

How many MBDA SCALP India is buying?
I saw the missile on display at Farnborough in 2010 i guess.
The MBDA representative had no idea what he was talking about 😅

The problem is that the main cities of the economic strength of China are on its Eastern Sea, The route over Tibet plateau or Yunan will be difficult, specially as PLAAF has many squadrons specially in SCS area to protect their economic backbone.
If you use say Strategic bomber, what path do you suggest?, there might be 3
India-- Tibet -- China. risky as there are many squadrons,
India-Singapore-China, this is mostly Maritime area, but the moment it flies to Singapore, the alarm bells will start.
India-Myanmaar--China, this is very much possible, but then the squadrons of PLAAF in SCS are the ones we need to contend with.

Fourth risky option Send the carrier to Singapore for friendly visit,
Send Rafales for friendly visit,
Get the Rafales loaded on the carrier (difficult, but somehow) it should not be a problem for Rafale to one off operational take off, hope so)
So the Carrier moves north from Singapore, Rafale take off when within range of the Chinese cities, they are bombed and then a Refueler fuels them on the way.. THE PLANES DO NOT LAND ON THE CARRIER AS THEY ARE NOT CAPABLE OF THE SAME.

Chinese are that stupid, right???
