To eductate young minds with positive ideas Rashtriya Rifles under Himalyan Brigade organised a painting competition for the students of *Green Hills Public School Binner, Baramulla.
ARMY ORGANISING CHENAB VALLEY CRICKET LEAGUE AT KISHTWAR, J&K, from 06 to 20 Oct 18.
A total of 20 teams have registered from various schools and villages of Kishtwar to participate in the championship on knock-out basis.
ARMY ORGANIES CAPACITY BUILDING TOUR TO GULMARG* *Mohura, 06 Oct 18.
Army organised Capacity Building Tour for school children on 06 Oct 18 under the aegis of Kalapahar Brigade. A total of *19 Boys, 13 Girls and one Female & three Male teachers* visited Gulmarg.
The students visited *Baba Reshi Shrine, Rani Temple, Children Park, Alpather Lake and enjoyed famous Gandola Ride* in Gulmarg. Students were enthralled to witness the serene beauty of the Gulmarg. They engaged themselves in fun activities in park to make the trip a memorable one.
The tour fulfilled its aim of connecting with the young children and making them aware about the rich heritage and natural splendor of Kashmir.
ARMY CONDUCTS AWARENESS DRIVE ON ‘CONVENTIONAL ENERGY RESOURCES AND WAY THEREOF” IN POONCH DISTRICT, J&K -06 October 2018.
Army organized a lecture on “Conventional Energy Resources and Way Thereof” at High School, Kuniyan in Poonch district on 06 October 2018. The aim of the lecture was to spread awareness among the people regarding Conventional Energy Resources.
The lecture covered various types of renewable energy sources such as solar energy, Hydro power Tidal energy, Wind energy etc. Solar and wind energy are clean fuels and their maintenance cost is also very less. Government is providing subsidised loans to establish domestic solar panels.
The lecture was attended by large number of students and teachers from Kuniyan and adjoining villages. The audience appreciated the efforts put in by the Indian Army in educating them on social issues that matters immensely for the well being of future generations.
ARMY ORGANISES TUITION CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AT GOOL, Ramban, J&K - 05 Oct 18.
Indian Army has been in the forefront to propagate the importance of education amongst the AWAM. It has also been facilitating the avenues for talent hunt amongst the students. To take these initiatives further, the Army has undertaken a novel initiative of conducting tuition classes for children at far flung and remote villages of Gool region, Ramban district.
School going children belonging to villages of Janwari, Lancha, Saldhar and Asthanmarg located in the foothills of the Pirpanjal Ranges attended these tuition classes. In addition to the difficulties of terrain and connectivity these children remain absent from school for five to six months due to movement of Gujjar and bakkarwals in summer season. The Army is pitching in to provide tuition classes for these children at the higher reaches of Pir Panjal Ranges.
The hurdle of convincing the parents of these children to send their wards for the tuition classes run by the Army, has also been overcome by prolonged counseling of parents. About 54 students at each location are reaping
the benefits of this initiative for better access to education.
ARMY CONDUCTS SPORTS ACTIVITY UNDER KHELO INDIA
Bagga, Reasi, J&K - 05 Oct 2018.
With an aim to bring in communal harmony and inculcate sportsman spirit amongst the youth of Reasi district, a sporting activity to include Wrestling, Kabaddi and Volleyball under Khelo India was organised by the Indian Army. The event was another initiative of the Army to promote positive youth development through sports and provide a platform to showcase the hidden talent of local populace especially the youth.
A total of 50 teachers, 400 students, 50 youth and 100 girls participated in Volleyball, Kabaddi and Wrestling competitions. SDM Dharmari, DSP Arnas, Opinion Makers of various villages alongwith approximately 350 locals witnessed the events.
The Sarpanch and elders of the village expressed their gratitude towards the Army in its endeavours to motivate the youth of the region and bring in bonhomie. They have expressed their desire for more such events to be organised to motivate the youth for remaining physically fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
ARMY CONDUCTS MEDICAL CAMP AT JANWARI, Gool, Ramban, J&K - 05 October 2018.
To address the medical problems of populace in far flung and remote areas, a Medical Camp was conducted by Indian Army on 05 Oct 18, at Janwari village of Ramban district..
Janwari is a remote village in Ramban district and is devoid of basic medical facilities. The local population has to travel for long distances through difficult terrain to get basic medical facilities at Gool. Such initiatives by the Army have not only enabled patients to be treated closer to their homes but also helped in increasing awareness about cleanliness, hygiene and healthy living.
A team of Army doctors conducted the camp. More than 320 patients, including men, women and children were provided medical treatment and check up, by the medical staff. Medicines were also distributed to the patients. The medical staff also provided counseling on hygiene and sanitation, importance of safe drinking water and modern day health lifestyle related diseases. The medical camp was well received by the local populace .
Speaking on the occasion on behalf of the locals, Sarpanch of the village Janwari, expressed his gratitude and appreciation towards the Army for its pledge towards addressing the medical problems of the locals. He said that the Army has always worked towards bringing good health and happiness to the needy village folk and the region as a whole.
ARMY ORGANISING EMBROIDERY CLASSES FOR WOMEN AT YEGN, KISHTWAR - 04 Oct 18.
Initiative has been undertaken by Indian Army for empowerment of women of the region by way of conducting Embroidery Classes for women of Kishtwar region which was aimed at emancipating economic conditions and enabling them to earn a livelihood through self employment.
A total of 40 women will undergo the Embroidery classes at Youth Employment Guidance Node, Kishtwar from 04 Oct to 03 Nov 2018. The course also aims to enhance self confidence and entrepreneurship skill with programs designed for overall personality development of the candidates to enable them to carry out their job in a more professional manner.

Army celebrated World Teacher's Day aims to focus on appreciating, assessing and improving the educators of the world and provide an opportunity to consider issues related to teachers and teaching. The Principal, teachers and students of Army Goodwill School, Potha, Manlane Azad Public School Daraba, Govt Hgher Secondary School, Chhatral, Govt Higher Secondary School, Dara Dulian & Youth Centre, Palma in Poonch and Rajouri districts. Principal and teachers were given a warm welcome in the school by students for their special contribution in their lives.
ARMY CONDUCTED “INTER TEHSIL WRESTLING COMPETITION” AT JEHRAN WALI GALI IN POONCH DISTRICT J&K from 03 Oct to 04 Oct 2018.
A Tehsil Level Wrestling Tournament was organised in Jehran Wali Gali in Poonch District by Army from 03 October to 04 October 2018. The players for the Poonch district team will be selected from this tournament to take part in the forthcoming Inter District Wrestling Competition as part of sports promotion drive undertaken by Army to promote culture of sports and to infuse spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie amongst the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

ARMY ORGANISES MEDICAL CAMP FOR DIVYANG AT KALAL, RAJOURI, J&K - 04 Oct 18.
To ameliorate the problems of Divyang people and bring medical facilities to door steps of AWAM, the Indian Army unit organised a medical camp at Kalal in Rajouri district. The event witnessed an unprecedented response from the local populace which was augmented by the special transportation arrangements by Army for patients from remote and far off villages. More than 65 locals, including divyangs, women and children availed the medical facilities.

CLEANLINESS DRIVE, TREE PLANTATION AND PROVISION OF PUBLIC GARBAGE BIN*Boniyar J&K - 03 OCT 2018
The objective of cleaning is not just to clean, but to have the feeling of happiness living within that environment. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) is a nation-wide campaign in India that aims to clean up the streets and roads of cities, smaller towns, and rural areas.
In order to spread the awareness about the importance of cleanliness amongst locals and students, Army at Belasalamabad conducted a series of events on Oct 02 in it’s area of responsibility at different locations.
The event was organised at Govt High School Trikanjan, wherein provision was made for toilet for the girl students of the school followed by a lecture on importance of cleanliness in life and motivated the students to spread this message to all.
ARMY ORGANISED MOBILE DENTAL CAMP FOR BORDER VILLAGES IN COLLABORATION WITH ASEEM FOUNDATION - URI
A mob dental camp was conducted in *border villages of Kamalkote, Gohalan and Chullan from 22 Sep to 30 Sep 2018 by Kalapahar Brigade in collaboration with Aseem Foundation.
The ten day long Dental camp has been conducted successfully by *Dr Prathibha Athavale of the ASEEM Foundation in which free dental checkup as well as free medicines to 350 patients were provided.* The camp witnessed overwhelming response from the villagers who were more happy to receive the much needed dental attention.

ARMY ORGANISES HALF MARATHON FOR YOUTH OF
REASI DISTRICT, J&K - 02 Oct 18.
With an aim to bring in communal harmony on Gandhi Jayanti and to inculcate sportsmanship and healthy living amongst the youth of Reasi Dist, a Half Marathon was org on 02 Oct 2018, at Sports Stadium, Reasi, by Indian Army. The event was part of the Army’s efforts to promote positive youth development through sports and provide a platform to showcase the hidden talent of local youth.
A total of 120 youth participated in the Half Marathon displaying exceptional sportsmanship, enthusiasm and vigour. The event witnessed an over whelming response both in terms of participation and spectators who had lined up all along the 19.5 km stretch of the marathon.
