New Delhi, Dec 5: The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned the final hearing in the Babri Masjid-Ram Mandir case to February 8, 2018, but the appearance of Congress leader and senior lawyer Kapil Sibal on behalf of Sunni Waqf Board in the case kicked up a political storm. During the hearing, Kapil Sibal urged the apex court to take the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi case in July 2019, after the Lok Sabha elections.
Ahead of the hearing, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy targeted Kapil Sibal for appearing on behalf of Sunni Waqf Board in Ayodhya case. “Kapil Sibal will be defending the claim of Sunni Wakf Board against Ram Mandir for fat fee. Some Shiva Bakhts!!” Swamy wrote on Twitter, in an apparent attack on the Congress.
Another BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh also attacked Kapil Sibal for representing Sunni Waqf Board in Supreme Court and asked the Congress and Rahul Gandhi to make their stand clear on the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi case. “Rahul Gandhi is visiting temples and Kapil Sibal is fighting against Ram Mandir in the Supreme Court,” Giriraj Singh said adding that the Congress is a danger for Sanatan dharma.
However, the Congress distanced itself from the issue. “Congress has got nothing to do with his case. As a client, if Kapil Sibal has been asked to do something, it cannot be linked to Congress,” Congress leader Brijesh Kalappa told a news channel.
Earlier, the BJP called Kapil Sibal a ‘Rome Bhakt’, taking a clear dig at Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s Italian origin for saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not a ‘real Hindu’ and appearing against Ram Temple in Ayodhya case. “People know who’s a ‘Ram bhakt’ and a “Rome bhakt”. The Congress government told the Supreme Court in 2007 that Lord Ram didn’t exist. ‘Babar ki bhakti’ was to deny Hindus temple in Ayodhya,” BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao had said.
Babri Masjid-Ram Mandir Dispute: Kapil Sibal Appears For Sunni Waqf Board in Ayodhya Case; Congress, BJP Spar
I was wrong about congress, it is party of thieves, Let Ram mandir verdict come against Ram mandir. BJP will bring resolution in parliament, if Congress supports it will not get muslim votes, if it doesn't it will not get Hindu votes.
