• Their Vaccones they don't work. It would have been cheaper and healtheir to inject their citizens with mineral water
• Since there is no immunity to the population even a handful of cases can spread like wildfire and destory their country. So they follow 'zero covid' policy and try to sell the bullshit to the world as if this is 'high level health consciusness by fatty Xi
• But they are so stuck up in their lies that they don't want to accept it and get vaccines from other countries to solve the issue
• Population now seeing no lockdowns anywhere else in the world but only in China. So they are fed up with this nonsense and protesting

If the CCP accepts their lies and gets vaccines from outside to give actual immunity to people, they are screwed- loss of prestige plus acceptance of the fact that they lied to their people about how they are handling COVID and vaccines

If CCP continues instead with 'Zero COVID', social breakdown will happen and any kind of laxity will let loose COVID on the population at an unbelievable rate

Not this time. The dissatisfaction level is much more than what is visible on the surface. Yes, CCP will use iron fist to crush the dissidents. But it’s not easy to do that when even hard core communists are fed up with Xi’s way of handling.

CCP is not going anywhere anysoon.

The best case scenario we can hope for is continued slowdown in their growth. Maybe a period of few months with a small negative growth.

That's the best we should hope for.

CCP is not going anywhere. But it's facing multiple short term, medium term and long term issues.

Short term issues:

1. Controlling cover and the impact of lockdowns on economy. China is already in recession. The growth numbers are pure BS.
2. Real estate market crash and liquidity issues with banks.
3. High inflation rate and the impact of global recession on China's export.
4. US ban on semiconductor technologies.
5. Xi's clampdown on Chienese billionaires has resulted in 100s of billions of dollars worth stock value vanishing into thin air.

Medium term issues:

1. So far big chunk of China's growth was fueled by real estate and infrastructure. Now both sectors are under severe stress. China has to bring in other sectors to drive future growth and it will be huge challenge.
2. After Covid, every company wants to go for China + one. Apple wants to move 25% of iPhone production to India within next 3-4 years. Once the outflow starts, it's irreversible. The tag of "Factory of the world" can change over next decade.
3. Belts and roads initiative is a big flop and 10s of billions of debts will be written off. China can takeover stressed assets like Hambuntota port, but what's the ROI for such assets?

Long term issues:

1. There are two issues with demography. The working age population is decreasing and the younger generation is not willing to work as hard as the previous generation. The phrase "Let it rot" is quite popular among the current generation. What it means is the productivity and competitiveness will significantly go down. US also faced this problem, however they are smart enough to fill the gaps with immigrants. China doesn't have that option.

2. Under Xi, China has really screwed up foreign relationships and nobody trusts China anymore. So Yuan is not going to be world currency anytime soon.

Chinese have been tolerating CCP, since the increase in personal wealth and standard of leaving has been phenomenal. However, without the growth, there will be repercussions.

the question is what options are available:

Previously they could just put people in jail and wait things out
But now, they have to DO something - scrapping zero COVID will be massive loss of face for CCP. Not scrapping it will create even more unrest. They're getting jacked on both sides.

Xi might get weaken and if the trend persists may be in a year or two we might see a contender for his post.

India should be on alert, when such events take place most dictators tend to fight or initiate wars to divert attention from ppl.
